Seething Opals of Materials is a good way to obtain a small but substantial amount of Iron Chunks and other materials when farming any content. These consumables are best used when farming Helltides and Nightmare Dungeons as they work better when clearing large packs of enemies. Seething Opals can be obtained as rewards from the Season 6 Mechanic, the Seething Realms.
All Seething Opals and How to Get

Whisper Bounty Caches reward around a hundred Iron Chunks in Torment I and rewards a couple more hundreds at higher difficulties. You can complete two 5-Grim Favor dungeon bounties to quickly get the Whisper cache, or farm Helltides for a bit to get both Helltide rewards and the Whisper Bounty Cache.

Completing multiple Uber Boss runs is by far the best way to farm Iron Chunks, as it grants around 200 to 300 from a single kill. Although it may have the same quantity as the other activities listed below, the efficiency of this activity is what makes it the best farming method.
How to Use the Party Finder Feature

A generally good method to farm basic materials is to farm Nightmare Dungeons for the number of Elites you can encounter on each one which drop a significant amount of Iron Chunks and other materials each.

Iron Chunk can be consistently obtained by salvaging weapons at the Blacksmith. This is a reliable way to farm Iron Chunk throughout the game, as any weapon yields the material when salvaged, though higher rarity weapons yield more Iron Chunk.
Which Equipment Should You Salvage?

Iron Chunk is primarily used for Tempering and Masterworking armor at the Blacksmith. You'll need Iron Chunk along with other materials to add or upgrade your armor's affixes.
