Occasionally, Gulliver will wash up on the shore of your island needing to be rescued. After you've rescued Gulliver 30 times, he'll send you the DIY Recipe for the Golden Shovel.
How to Help Gulliver the Seagull
2. Open your mailbox.
Translation: “Thank you for helping me so many times! As thanks, I want to send you this Very Very Rare Golden Shovel DIY Recipe! Hope it helps out!”
After helping Gulliver, access your mailbox the next day. You'll receive a letter from Gulliver containing the Golden Shovel DIY Recipe!

How to Use the Golden Shovel
Is the Golden Shovel Worth It?
The Golden Shovel Can Break
Translation: “Oh no! The Golden Shovel broke! Guess I wore it out...”
Unlike previous games in the series, it's been confirmed that the Golden Shovel can break. Based on our tests, the Golden Shovel breaks after around 200 strikes so currently, it doesn't appear to be significantly worth the effort to upgrade.
Hovever, it can be used as a cool decoration to flex up your tools!
Cannot Make Instant Money Trees
In previous games, the Golden Shovel had the unique ability to create a Money Tree by planting a Bell Bag anywhere in the ground. According to our tests, this doesn't seem to work in New Horizons.
Does Not Dig Faster
When compared to other Shovels, the Golden Shovel doesn't seem to be any faster at digging or hitting rocks.

Anonymous almost 5 yearsdurability. the metal shovel has 100 uses, while the golden shovel has 200 uses. I wish it was still possible to do the instant money trees though or if they brought gems back or something 😅
