Promised Consort Radahn Weakness and Tips | Best Builds Against Consort Radahn

Elden Ring - Promised Consort Radahn Banner

This is a guide for Promised Consort Radahn, the final boss of the Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree. Learn Promised Consort Radahn's weakness, tips for the Consort of Miquella Phase 2, as well as the best builds against Consort Radahn.

Promised Consort Radahn Weakness

Weak to Pierce, Bleed, Frostbite and Scarlet Rot

Promised Consort Radahn is weak to attacks that deal Pierce, Bleed, Frostbite, and Scarlet Rot. These dealt the most damage when we tested each affinity using the same weapon against Promised Consort Radahn.

Weapons that deal Pierce damage such as Heavy Thrusting Swords and Great Spears and combining them with affinities that inflict Bleed or Frostbite are great choices for dealing the highest amount of damage per hit. You can also use Rotbone Arrows and the Antspur Rapier to inflict Scarlet Rot and effectively watch him die to damage over time.

Keep in mind that status effects will reset once he goes into Phase 2.

Best Build Against Promised Consort Radahn

Piercing Weapons and Shields are Recommended

Fingerprint Stone Shield ImageFingerprint Stone Shield Verdigris Greatshield Icon Verdigris Greatshield

One of the best and safest ways to defeat Promised Consort Radahn is resorting to poke setups with a greatshield and a thrusting weapon as he is weak to Pierce attacks. This setup allows you to attack while guarding as long as you manage your stamina efficiently.

Boost Guarding Ability With Talismans

Greatshield Talisman ImageGreatshield Talisman Two-Headed Turtle Talisman ImageTwo-Headed Turtle Talisman Pearl Shield Talisman ImagePearl Shield Talisman

The Greatshield Talisman and the Two-Headed Turtle Talisman are essential for poke builds as these drastically increase the efficiency of blocking attacks with greatshields.

While the Greatshield Talisman further reduces the stamina consumed when blocking, the Two-Headed Turtle Talisman increases your stamina recovery rate, making it a lot easier to maintain a defensive stance as long as you avoid spamming attacks.

Use Colossal Weapons for Guard Counter Builds

Recommended Weapons

Black Steel Greathammer Icon Black Steel Greathammer
Ash of War Cracked Tear
: CragbladeAsh of War: Cragblade Deflecting Hardtear IconDeflecting Hardtear

A fun way to defeat Promised Consort Radahn is to break his poise by perfect blocking with the Deflecting Hardtear's buff then guard countering his attacks. Pair it with a Cragblade-enhanced Colossal Weapon and you'll be able to land critical hits more often.

Use Impenetrable Thorns for Mage Builds

Impenetrable Thorns Icon Impenetrable Thorns

For high arcane mage builds, Impenetrable Thorns is the most effective spell for this fight as it deals massive damage, especially when cast right next to its target. Promised Consort Radahn will always charge at you anyway so try to find a big enough window in between his combos and make sure all three walls of thorns pass through him.

Craft Aromatics to Tank Radahn's Hits

Uplifting Aromatic IconUplifting Aromatic Ironjar Aromatic IconIronjar Aromatic

You can also try bringing Uplifting Aromatics and Ironjar Aromatics if you're not confident in dodging Radahn's heaviest attacks.

Uplifting Aromatic provides huge damage negation for an instance of attack which you can consume when Radahn is about to use his massive light explosion attacks. Ironjar Aromatic, on the other hand, gives a long lasting physical damage negation, poise, and resistance boosts at the expense of changing your dodges to heavy rolls.

Specific Recommended Build: Shield-Poke Build

Verdigris Greatshield Icon Verdigris Greatshield

VIG 50 MND 9
END 50 STR 55
DEX 26 INT 20

If you're willing to respec your stats through Rennala's rebirth, we recommended going with a Shield-Poke build to defeat Promised Consort Radahn.

This build lets you deal Pierce damage safely behind your shield while also building up both Frostbite and Scarlet Rot. Though Frostbite does not increase Scarlet Rot's tick damage, it does increase your pokes'.

Wear the Full Verdigris Set

Elden Ring - Verdigris HelmVerdigris Helm Elden Ring - Verdigris ArmorVerdigris Armor Elden Ring - Verdigris GauntletsVerdigris Gauntlets Elden Ring - Verdigris GreavesVerdigris Greaves

The full Verdigris Armor Set that you get from Moore's corpse boasts one of the highest defense and poise stats in the game.

You will be heavy-rolling with the full set on, but it won't matter as you will just be tanking Radahn's attacks with your shield and mitigating the damage that gets through with your armor.

Equip Talismans That Enhances Blocking and Holy Resistance

Greatshield Talisman ImageGreatshield Talisman Two-Headed Turtle Talisman ImageTwo-Headed Turtle Talisman Pearl Shield Talisman ImagePearl Shield Talisman Golden Braid ImageGolden Braid

Even with all those layers of defenses up, you still need to learn how to manage your stamina efficiently or Radahn will just punish you for being greedy.

To help you with this, be sure to equip the Greatshield Talisman to lower the stamina cost of blocking attacks and the Two-Headed Turtle Talisman to significantly speed up stamina recovery.

Promised Consort Radahn will also bombard you with Holy-elemental attacks during the second phase so it is also recommended to increase Holy damage negation with items like the Pearl Shield Talisman and the Golden Braid.

Promised Consort Radahn Tips

Tips for Beating Promised Consort Radahn

Learn All of His Biggest Openings

Radahn has a few moves that leave him open for a generous amount of time, and even then it should only be enough for a single safe strike.

These are only some of the openings, but they are one of his most obvious ones, allowing players to punish Radahn effectively.

Meteor Crash

Seven times out of ten, Radahn will start the fight with this move, tucking his cleavers close as he stands straight, before spinning into the air and charging the player.

Dodge as soon as you see the meteor revving up in speed. This provides the biggest opening in his entire moveset, allowing you to strike twice in most cases.

5-Hit Combo

This combo provides one of his biggest openings for a safe strike. To dodge this, dodge the initial overhead slash, dodge twice to evade both cleavers, then dodge around him for both the slam and sword raise.

Completely dodging this will give you ample time to hit him safely up to two times.

Air Slam

Radahn will slam his swords to the ground to lift himself up in the air before slamming onto you.

He may attempt to do this twice, so do not get baited by the first strike. If he performs his second jump, this is another safe time to hit him after dodging.

Spinning Strikes

There are variations to this move, and he seemingly transitions to this combo from most attacks, spinining either two or three times.

Watch for his hands and dodge the delayed strikes accordingly. The only time it becomes safe to counterattack is if he spins three times.

Meteor Surge

If you are some distance away, Radahn will once again tuck his cleavers and curl up. Once you see him curl up, roll to avoid the Meteor Pull. During the downtime for the pull, you will be able to sprint towards him to attack once.

If you are close to him otherwise or if he pulls you with the initial surge, he will slam his swords down to create a growing AoE damage area. Simply run away as soon as he pulls you to dodge this.

Bleeding Him to Death is Effective

When kitting yourself out to defeat Promised Consort Radahn, take note that Bleed is effective against him, as Hemorrhage does plenty of burst damage.

With that in mind, consider consuming a larval tear to wield your best bleed weapons if you find that your current build is finding difficulty in denting him.

Best Bleed Weapons

Use Gold Summons and Spirit Ashes

Available Gold Summons
Thiollier Sir Ansbach

If you have completed Thiollier and Ansbach's NPC quests and they are still alive at this point, you can summon both of them to help you in this fight!

You may also summon your Spirit Ash to assist you in this fight. You may summon them in the beginning of the fight after dodging the Meteor Crash.

Radahn Consort of Miquella Phase 2 Tips

Tips for Beating Radahn, Consort of Miquella

Learn All of His Familiar Openings

Radahn, Consort of Miquella will generally have the same moveset with the addition of having Holy aftershock damage to punish people that dodge outwards. With that in mind, you can dodge his similar attacks the same way.

As a general rule of thumb, always try to dodge into Radahn during his second phase, or you will likely take damage from the aftershocks, get staggered and take the next hit from Radahn.

Holy Light Shower

Again, seven times out of ten, Radahn will begin Phase 2 by performing this move, lifting both of his hands to his side and levitating, calling forth a large AoE centered around the player that will explode with light after some time.

To dodge this, as soon as you see him slowly levitate off the air, unlock your camera and run straight into any direction. If done right, you should barely be outside its AoE by the time it triggers.

Holy Skydive

At roughly 30% HP, Radahn will consider doing this move. It works similar to Starscourge Radahn's Skydive but has a bigger AoE and is faster. Run in any direction as far as you can to dodge.

As soon as he lands, this provides another opening for you to get a clean hit in.

Find Miquella's Great Rune

Using Miquella's Great Rune before the fight allows the player to resist Miquella's charm if he is grabbed by Radahn during the second phase. This Great Rune may be obtained from defeating the Scadutree Avatar.

If this rune is not equipped, getting grabbed by Miquella for the second time will result in an instant death.

Scadutree Avatar Location and How to Beat

Consider Using the Golden Braid

If you are having trouble with survivability against Radahn during Phase 2, consider equipping the Golden Braid to boost your resistance against Holy damage, especially against Radahn's afterattacks.

Golden Braid Location and Effects

Use Spirit Ashes if You Have Not

If you have not used your Spirit Ash yet, using it after his initial Light Shower would be the perfect time as the Spirit Ash will be able to take aggro off of you, which will be much-needed in Phase 2.
