Gestures are short character animations that players can use as forms of in-game expressions or celebrations. Read on to learn how to unlock each gesture, all the gesture secrets, and how to gesture.

All Shadow of the Erdtree Gestures

Let Us Go Together	Dropped bt the Final Boss of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.
May the Best Win	Left by Dryleaf Dane along with a note for a duel in Highroad Cross after he leaves.
O Mother	Obtain from a statue underneath a tree north of Bonny Village.
Ring of Miquella	Pre-Order the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

As You Wish	Give Hyetta a Shabriri Grape at the Church of Irith.
Balled Up	Acquired from Renalla after rebirthing.
Bravo!	Acquired by interacting with the message at the feet of White-Face Varre after defeating a demigod.
By My Sword	Can be found at Leyndell, Royal Capital in the Fortified Manor.
Calm Down!	Return to Patches in Murkwater Cave after opening the treasure chest that teleports you to Mistwood.
Casual Greeting	Acquired after summoning Great Horned Tragoth for the Magma Wyrm Makar or Starscourge Radahn boss fights.
Crossed Legs	Interact with the dead body south of Stormhill Shack.
Curtsy	Obtained from Roderika after upgrading a spirit ash to +4 in the Roundtable Hold.
Desperate Prayer	Acquired from Gowry after purchasing Pest Threads and exhausting Dialogue.
Dozing Cross-Legged	On a dead body guarded by a warhawk at the castle rooftops near the Rampart Tower site of grace in Stormveil Castle.
Erudition	Acquired after giving Thops the Academy Glintstone key.
Extreme Repentance	Spare Patches when he surrenders, then attack him to make him hostile. Let him damage you until he says "Grovel... and I'll forgive you."
Fancy Spin	Summon the Spirit Jellyfish near the other jellyfish at the Stargazer's Ruins.
Finger Snap	Acquired from Merchant Kale after talking to him about the howling at Mistwood.
Fire Spur Me	Obtained at the outpost west of Liurnia Lake Shore.
Golden Order Totality	Reward for helping Goldmask figure out the truth behind Radagon.
Grovel For Mercy	Defeat Patches and wait for him to surrender to you in Murkwater Cave.
Heartening Cry	Acquired from the announcer of the festival at Redmane Castle.
Hoslow's Oath	Acquired after you invade Juno Hoslow at the Mountaintops of the Giants.
Inner Order	Acquired from D's brother after talking to him and giving him the Twinned Armor Set at Siofra Aqueduct.
My Lord	Give Boc the Gold Sewing Needle at the East Capital Rampart site of grace in Leyndell, Royal Capital.
My Thanks	Defeat Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy and find the gesture a the end of the hallway in Volcano Manor.
Nod in Thought	Acquired after meeting Sorceress Sellen.
Outer Order	Talk to Melina at the Minor Erdtree Church at the Altus Plateau.
Patches' Crouch	Update to Version 1.04 and defeat Patches again in Murkwater Cave at the end of his questline.
Polite Bow	Acquired after speaking with Finger Maiden Thorelina in Redmane Castle.
Prayer	Acquired after interacting with Brother Corhyn at the Roundtable Hold.
Rapture	Unlocked by touching the Two Fingers when you first meet it.
Reverential Bow	Acquired from Mad Tounge Alberich at the Roundtable Hold after letting him perform this gesture.
Sitting Sideways	Acquired from Roderika at Stormhill Shack.
Spread Out	Acquired after purchasing prawns from Blackguard Big Boggart at Boilprawn Shack.
Strength!	Found on the edge of the cave after defeating the Soldier of Godrick Boss.
The Ring	Unlocked by pre-ordering Elden Ring or by defeating a boss as a yellow phantom.
Triumphant Delight	Help free Alexander from the ground south of Saintsbridge.
What Do You Want?	Acquired after interacting with Ensha at the Roundtable Hold.

All Gesture Secrets

Erudition Gesture to Complete Tower Puzzles

The Erudition gesture is used to complete the puzzles in the Converted Tower and Converted Fringe Tower in Liurnia of the Lakes.

Note that you're required to equip a Glintstone Crown to complete the Converted Fringe Tower puzzle.

The Erudition gesture is obtained by giving Thops another copy of the Academy Glintstone Key. Thops can be found in the Church of Irith, and a second Academy Glintstone Key can be obtained on the chandelier on top of the Church of the Cuckoo in Raya Lucaria Academy.

Finger Snap Gesture to Call Blaidd Down

The Finger Snap gesture calls down Blaidd the Half-Wolf from on top of the Mistwood Ruins.

After first hearing his howls in the area, visit Merchant Kale in Church of Elleh and ask about the howling, he will then teach you the Finger Snap gesture.

Grovel for Mercy to Surrender to Patches

The Grovel for Mercy gesture unlocks the Extreme Repentance gesture from Patches.

After forgiving Patches for attacking you in Murkwater Cave, attack him again until he becomes hostile.

Once hostile, let Patches hit you until your health is low enough. He will then ask you to grovel and apologize. Doing the Grovel for Mercy gesture at this point unlocks the Extreme Repentance gesture, which you must use to calm Patches back down and end the fight.

How to Gesture

Using the Gesture Menu

To perform gestures, open the main menu and select any buttons under the gesture category to open the Gesture Menu. Highlight the gesture you want, then press the test now button to perform it.

Equip Gestures on the Gesture Slots

To set up Gestures to your Gesture Slots, open up your main menu, then select the slot you want to change under the gesture category to open the gesture menu. Highlight the gesture you want to set for this gesture slot, then press the confirm button to finish.

Use Motion Controls to Do Gestures

If you are playing on a controller with motion controls, you can perform gestures by holding down the Action Button and then doing a motion input with your controller. Each Gesture Slot corresponds to a specific motion input.

Removing Gestures

If you don't want to risk performing the gestures while in battle, there is a way in which you can remove the gestures for motion controls. Simply open up the main menu, and under the Gesture category, press the remove button on all of the motion inputs with gestures assigned to remove them.

What Are Gestures?

Used as Animated Expressions

Gestures are used as simple expressions in-game, acting as an in-game method of communication between players during multiplayer play or as simple animations a player can use at any time in the game. The use of gestures has little to no effect on gameplay, although some "special" gestures have some effect in-game.

Used to Unlock Hidden Content

On rare occasions, performing a gesture in the right conditions can prompt events that can lead you to new quests or areas that reward items.

Make sure to watch out for anything that could be a clue to trigger such events to happen during your exploration.
