When to Fight Vyke, Knight of the Roundtable

You can fight Vyke, Knight of the Roundtable as soon as you reach the Mountaintops of the Giants by heading straight to the Lord Contender's Evergaol.

Fight at Level 100+

Although no longer wielding Frenzied Flame incantations, Vyke is a powerful boss that uses his signature great spear and wields powerful Dragon Cult incantations such as Lightning Strike, Fortissax's Lightning Spear, and Vyke's Dragonbolt.

Level your character to at least Level 100 and allocate enough stats to vigor and your attacking stats to withstand Vyke's attacks and deal as much damage to him as possible.

Keep Out of Range of His Attacks

Vyke moves slowly but can easily close the distance with poking attacks using his great spear. His powerful lightning incantations also cover plenty of ground, particularly his Lightning Strike and Fortissax's Lightning Spear.

When fighting Vyke, make sure to keep out of range his attacks. Long weapons such as spears, great spears, and thrusting swords are great for this fight as you can deal damage at a relatively safe distance.

Use Lightning Weapons and Spells

Vyke takes a lot of damage from Lightning damage due to his armor having low lightning resistance, and this goes down even further whenever he casts Vyke's Dragonbolt as the spell lowers the user's lightning damage negation.

A good strategy to use against this fight is to simply wait until Vyke buffs himself with his dragonbolt and then attack him with lightning-infused weapons or incantations to quickly whittle down his health.

Use AOE Weapons and Spells

Vyke isn't particularly nimble and can dodge spells and attacks, but he has trouble handling weapon skills or spells that deal AOE damage.

Ashes of War such as Hoarfrost Stomp will easily hit Vyke even when he's rolling and evading. Storm Stomp, while not dealing damage, easily catches him when he's evading and breaks his poise and you can follow up with an attack after using it.

The Flame of Frenzy incanation is also very useful during this fight as the spell covers a large area and can roll catch Vyke when he's evading.

Attack When He's Casting Incantations

Vyke is vulnerable when he's casting spells as the incantations he uses have very slow casting speed and often leaves him standing in one spot.

He's especially vulnerable when casting Fortissax's Lightning Spear as the incantation leaves him floating in the air for a few seconds. You can knock him out of the air with a jumping attack or with a powerful spell such as Cannon of Haima and Giansflame Take Thee before he can actually deal damage with his own spell.
