Godrick the Grafted Boss Tips
Check IconBe Patient With Your Spells
Check IconUse Summons to Distract Him

Be Patient With Your Spells

Godrick has far-reaching attacks and an A.O.E. shock wave, making casting spells difficult. With a full magic build, do not get greedy with your attacks. Firing multiple spells or charging up a spell could result in your death if mistimed. Be patient and don't rush trying to defeat him or you could end up making a mistake. Glintstone Stars is a good spell to cast as this costs low FP and can track the nimble Godrick.

Use Summons to Distract Him

Godrick the Grafted is quite aggressive and will not give you much time for spells. Make use of Summons to distract him while you use your spells or heal.

An effective summon to use is Nepheli Loux, an NPC you'll meet near Godrick's boss area. While she doesn't deal much damage, she's tanky enough that you'll have ample time to cast your abilities. You can also summon Spirit Ashes to aid you in combat, giving you even more allies that can tank Godrick's attacks.

Check IconSummon Spirit Ashes
Check IconMake Precise Dodges

Bait Out Ranged Attacks

Attacks like Axe Spin and Dragon Fire require a charge before it starts to inflict damage. When you see Godrick the Grafted starting to charge, immediately create some distance to avoid these dangerous attacks.

Summon Spirit Ashes

Similar to the ranged strategy, summoning Spirit Ashes can help immensely in this fight. After summoning a spirit, get behind him and unleash your strongest moves. Whether you choose to damage him or heal up, he will be too distracted to attack you so be decisive with your next move.

Spirit Ashes like Lone Wolf Ashes and Northern Mercenary are a very effective Spirit for melee classes. Take advantage of the aggro that these Spirits pull from Godrick the Grafted and deal damage to him. If you have defeated Pumpkin Head prior to this boss fight, you can use him to have a better chance at easily defeating Godrick the Grafted. Pumpkin Head is very tanky and you can utilize his durability to get good damage off.

Make Precise Dodges

Dodging Godrick the Grafted's attacks will be vital since even blocking his attacks can cause heavy damage. You can dodge into attacks where he closes distance against you, such as when he charges at you with his axe. This allows you to get a few hits off before you'll need to dodge away again.

Godrick the Grafted Attack Patterns

First Phase

Axe Attacks

Axe Attack Variations
Godrick the Grafted Axe Swing
Axe Swing: Godrick the Grafted swings his axe up to five times. You can avoid this by dodging back. Remember that this attack can stack up to five times, so be sure to wait him out before re-engaging.
Godrick the Grafted Hammer Stomp
Axe Stomp: Godrick the Grafted stomps his foot then pushes his hammer down, causing a shock wave around him. This attack needs to charge before hitting so you can avoid it by dodging back once you see him lifting his hammer. The radius of the second part of this attack is quite big, so be sure to give plenty of leeway.

Storm Attacks

Similar to his knights, Godrick can manipulate the winds to enhance his attacks. Stay away from Godrick as he primes the wind around him with Axe Spin.

Storm Attack Variations
Godrick the Grafted Axe Spin
Axe Spin: Godrick the Grafted spins his axes 360 degrees twice then steps forward dealing damage. You can avoid this by dodging back once you see him start swinging his axe.
Godrick the Grafted Tumble
Rolling Attack: Godrick the Grafted rolls forward, leaps in the air, then swings his axes as he drops. You can avoid this by dodging to the side when he starts to do his roll animation. Watch where he lands as he will swing his sword after jumping. Dodge back when he lands and let him finish the last part of this attack. Godrick the Grafted takes a while to recover after he lands, so you can use this time to heal, reposition yourself, or summon Spirit Ashes.
Godrick - Twin Wind Blast.gif
Wind Blast: This starts similarly to his Rolling Attack, but instead of leaping in the air, Godrick launches two blasts of wind at you. The best way to avoid these is to dodge to the side. Godrick will commonly resort to this attack when you're far from him.

Second Phase

Dragon Attacks

Godrick's second phase starts with his severed arm transforming into a live dragon head. Attack timings will be slower, but deal more damage from this point. He also gains two new moves with his new arm.

Dragon Attack Variations
Godrick the Grafted Dragon Fire
Dragon Fire: Godrick the Grafted releases fire from the dragon head on his left hand. This attack is long lasting and very powerful. When he starts charging it, quickly get behind him to avoid the flames.
Godrick the Grafted Dragon Bite
Dragon Bite: Godrick the Grafted picks you up with the dragon's mouth then slams you on the ground. While in the dragon's mouth, it also burns you with its fire. Dodge to the left once you see Godrick the Grafted’s dragon arm begin to move toward you.

He's not immune to bleed. Relatively high resistance, but not immune. With the Reduvia i inflict Bleed on him after about 6-8 special strikes on him. So immune, no. Resistant, Relatively. It still inflicts about 400+ damage to him.
