You can find Flying Dragon Greyll in the Farum Greatbridge, an unmarked location in the northern part of Dragonbarrow in the Caelid region.

When to Fight Flying Dragon Greyll

Location Recommended Level
Caelid
Lv. 50

You can fight Flying Dragon Greyll as soon as you reach the Caelid region either by travelling from Limgrave or by using the teleport gate that D, Hunter of the Dead reveals to access Gurranq at the Bestial Sanctum.

Fight at Level 50+

While Greyll has less HP than Agheel, it has more resistances and the narrow Farum Greatbridge makes dodging its attacks a challenge. Level up your character to at least Level 50 and allocate stats to Vigor to make the fight easier.

Ride Torrent for More Mobility

The Farum Greatbridge is relatively narrow, making it tougher to circle around and dodge Greyll's attacks. Riding Torrent lets you cover more ground, letting you easily dash away from its sweeping moves.

Ranged Strategy

Flying Dragon Greyll Boss Tips

Summon tanky spirits

Summoning a tanky spirit is a great way to keep it distracted while you focus on dealing damage at a safe range.

Both Banished Knight Oleg and Lhutel the Headless are great summon options for this fight. Oleg has enough bulk to withstand Greyll's attacks and his aggressive nature means he'll always grab aggro. Lhutel, on the other hand, is tankier and is better at evading since she teleports when she evades.

Aim for the head to maximize damage

Try to aim your attacks directly at Greyll's head to maximize your damage output. Strong spells like Rock Sling can even stagger, opening up a riposte for additional damage.

Melee Strategy

Flying Dragon Greyll Boss Tips

Aim for the legs to stagger

Once the battle starts, run directly under Greyll and start attacking one of its legs. Doing enough damage to its legs may cause it to stagger, letting you riposte it for a high amount of damage.

Always stay under Greyll during the fight when he's on the ground as the bridge's cramped space makes it tougher to dodge its wide, sweeeping attacks out in the open.

Attack when its breathing fire

Greyll is most vulnerable when its using its fire breath attack while on the ground. Once you see it preparing to breath fire, run towards it and aim to get under its head or body. The long attack gives you enough time to hit its legs or even its head with a sufficiently long weapon.

Use summons to deal more damage

Summoning spirit ashes is a good way to further boost your damage against Greyll. Try summoning hard-hitting ashes such as Banished Knight Oleg as his wide, swpeeing attacks in particular are good at reaching the dragon's head.

Depending on your current build, the Mimic Tear is also a good choice for this fight as it will use the same attacks as your character.

Flying Dragon Greyll Attack Patterns

Tail Attacks

Tail Attack Variations
Elden Ring - Flying Dragon Greyll Long Tail Sweep.gif
Hard Tail Sweep: Greyll will wind up and do a strong tail sweep, dragging its tail into the ground. This move deals a lot of damage and is often used when the player keeps attacking its legs.
Elden Ring - Flying Dragon Greyll Tail Sweep.gif
Quick Tail Sweep: Greyll will do a relatively quick tail sweep to reposition himself. This move has less windup than the regular tail sweep but comes out quickly and is still deals considerable damage.

Fire Breath Attacks

Fire Breat Attack Variations
Elden Ring - Flying Dragon Greyll Fire Breath.gif
Fire Breath: Greyll breathes a stream of fire that travels in a straight direction. While it's possible to outrun this move on Torrent, running towards Greyll as it winds up for the attack lets you avoid the move completely.
Elden Ring - Flying Dragon Greyll Sweeping Fire Breath.gif
Sweeping Fire Breath: Greyll sweeps the area with a stream of fire. This move has less range than its normal fire breath attack and is meant to catch players rolling towards its side. You can evade this move by simply running away from Greyll.
Elden Ring - Flying Dragon Greyll Hovering Fire Breath.gif
Hovering Fire Breath: Greyll briefly hovers in the air and breathes fire directly beneath him. This is a very dangerous move that the dragon uses when you keep attacking its legs as it comes out quickly and covers a lot of area. Roll and run away from Greyll when he winds up for this attack.
Elden Ring - Flying Dragon Greyll Flying Fire Breath.gif
Flying Fire Breath: Greyll flies up into the air and breathes fire down on the bridge. You can evade this move by running under Greyll as it flies up to breathe fire.

Bite Attacks

Bite Attack Variations
Elden Ring - Flying Dragon Greyll Bite Attack.gif
Sweeping Bite Attack: Greyll will turn around to quickly bite the player. The dragon will always use this move if you keep attacking its legs.
Elden Ring - Flying Dragon Greyll Bite Combo Attack.gif
Bite Combo Attack: Greyll winds up and sweeps the area in front of it with two consecutive bite attacks. This move is very slow and has a noticeable wind up, and is easy to dodge by just rolling or backing away.

Charge Attack

Charge Attack Information
Elden Ring - Greyll Charge Attack.gif
Charge Attack: Greyll roars and charges towards the player, ending with a sweeping horn attack.

Stomp Attack

Stomp Attack Information
Elden Ring - Flying Dragon Greyll Stomp Attack.gif
Stomp Attack: Greyll hovers in the air and crashes down on the ground with a stomp. While the move has long wind up, it has great tracking. Evade by rolling just as Greyll stomps on the ground.
