Blaidd the Half-Wolf Information and Lore

Lore

  • Blaidd the Half-Wolf is a servant of Lady Ranni (the witch that was earlier known as Renna). His quest, after pursuing and ending the traitor knight Darriwil, is to uncover the path leading to the Eternal City of Nokron.
  • According to the Carian royal family blacksmith, Iji, Blaidd the Half-Wolf is Lady Ranni's stepbrother. Queen Rennala, Ranni's mother, approved of him and they had been playmates since childhood.
  • Later on, players will find out that Blaidd is actually a servant of the Two Fingers, given to Ranni to safeguard the fledgling Empyrean. Due to his origins, Iji doubted Blaidd, initially regarding the Half-Wolf's devotion to Ranni as artificial at best.
  • In the end, however, Blaidd proved that he was in fact fiercely loyal to his half-sister and genuine in his desire to protect her. Despite Ranni's forced severance from the Greater Will, Blaidd remained sane enough to defend the now vanished Ranni from the ire of the Golden Order.

Trivia

  • If you kill Blaidd at the Mistwood Ruins, Iji will no longer spawn beside the Road to the Manor site of grace in Liurnia. Additionally, you will be locked out of Ranni's questline. The only way to remedy this is by seeking absolution at the Church of Vows.
  • After you defeat Blaidd at the end of his quest, a helmet called the Black Wolf Mask can be found on the wall behind Seluvis' tower. This will complete the Blaidd armor set.
  • Return to Iji after killing Blaidd for additional dialogue. The old blacksmith will express his remorse and regret for having doubted Blaidd's loyalty to Ranni.

Blaidd the Half-Wolf Quotes

"Kale send you, did he? Ever the bloody busybody. Hmm. Maybe to him, you don't seem so strange. The name's Blaidd. I'm looking for a man who goes by Darriwil."
"Darriwil, rotting in a cell is no true justice. No...This is where it ends for you."
"Oh yes, I should say. If you venture north to Raya Lucaria, and come across a venerable blacksmith who's a little on the large side...Tell him I sent you. And he'll be sure to treat you right."
"Ah, good to see you. Apologies mate, bute I don't have much to report. I can see bloody Nokron, right above me, but I'm absolutely stumped. I've tried all the gateways, to no avail... Perhaps it's time to ask Seluvis? I recall that spiteful little rat acting like he knew something..."
"Ah, there you are. Took your sweet time. The players are all made up, and waiting for the curtain... Let's give them a show to remember, eh. Just don't go dying on me. For Ranni's sake, too. Once more into the fray together, eh. Heh, this might even be fun."
"What a sick way to fight, eh. The glory of the clash is shared, by Radahn and you. And hah! Did you see that, afterwards? A falling star, right before our eyes! I can't fathom how Radahn was holding back something of that scale. He was a living legend, if ever I saw one. And, the path has now been cleared. To Nokron, where Ranni's fate will be decided."
"Oh, it's you... It's me, Blaidd. Old Iji trapped me here. Told me I'd bring nought but bale to Lady Ranni. But there's no chance that could happen. I'm part of her being. Her very shadow... I thought old Iji knew as much... Honestly, I don't know what's going on anymore... "
"No. I'm part of her very being! I could never betray her! No matter what might happen... Ranni... She needs me..."

There must be more to getting Blaidd to spawn than just snapping your fingers at the Mistwood Ruins. This needs to be researched further. Note: I began Ranni's Quest first.
