Unleash Your Most Powerful Attacks

When Pumpkin Head's focused on Northern Mercenary Ashes, unleash your strongest attacks. For magic builds, Carian Piercer is a good spell that deals a huge amount of damage.

Back Away When Pumpkin Head Goes After You

When Pumpkin Head starts to focus on you instead, gain some distance and use Glintstone Pebble to deal bits of damage while Northern Mercenary Ashes tries to aggro Pumpkin Head once more.

Keep circling around it

The best strategy to fighting Pumpkin Head with a melee build is to always keep trying to get at its back. Circle around counterclockwise.

Dodge, attack, repeat

When Pumpkin Head swings down, dodge diagonally forward, so you end up behind it. Then hit it once or twice, and continue circling around. Repeat this process till Pumpkin Head dies.

Mad Pumpkin Head slams its flail down onto the ground. Easily avoided by dodging left or right.

Head Slam

Mad Pumpkin Head raises its head, charges for an attack, then slams its head down on the ground. Easily avoided by dodging away.

Double Flail Swing

Mad Pumpkin Head - Double Flail Swing
Mad Pumpkin Head swings its flail horizontally two times. Sometimes ends this combo with a Flail Slam Easily avoided by dodging around him or dodging backward.

Left Hook

Mad Pumpkin Head - Left Hook
Does a quick hook with its left arm. Sometimes follows this up with a Flail Swing. Avoid it by dodging counterclockwise, or use it as a chance to roll behind it.
