You can find Necromancer Garris in the Sage's Cave. Garris'boss area is located behind an illusory wall in a room where you get the Skeletal Mask and the Raptor's Black Feathers.

When to Fight Necromancer Garris

You can fight Necromancer Garris as soon as you get to the Altus Plateau and heading directly to the Sage's Cave.

Fight at Level 50+

Necromancer Garris is not a particularly tough boss, with most of the difficulty coming from the Skull Snails it summons. A Level 50 character with sufficent Vigor and attacking stat investment can take him down easily.

Use Spirit Ashes to Summon Spirits

Necromancer Garris will periodically summon Skull Snails that, while not particularly strong, will constantly roll towards you to interrupt your attacks.

Summoning a Spirit Ash will make this fight less tedious as they often prioritize the aggressive Skull Snails, letting you deal with Garris without trouble. Good spirit ashes to summon during this fight include Lone Wolf, Avionnete Soldiers, and Skeletal Militiamen.

Stagger Him with Strong Attacks

As a humanoid enemy, Necromancer Garris is easily staggered by heavy and jumping attacks, with attacks from colossal weapons and colossal swords even knocking him down to the ground.

Attack Him While He's Casting

Necromancer Garris' spells have a long casting time that leave him very vulnerable to attacks. With your Spirit Ash summons distracting the Skull Snails, you can simply wait for Garris to start casting and attack him while he's prone.
