Where to Find Rileigh the Idle

After receiving the letter from Volcano Manor, start from the Bridge of Iniquity site of grace in Mt. Gelmir. Ride across the bridge heading East, then turn right and drop down the first Spirit Spring, followed by another a little further ahead. Follow the cliff face North to find Rileigh the Idle's red summon sign.

Rileigh the Idle Boss Tips

Fire Arrows or Magic From Cover

If Rileigh begins firing his Crossbow, fire back and use the trees as cover. Rileigh will usually run straight at you if this goes on for too long, although if you are comfortable with parrying the Dagger's running attack, this is also a good way to get damage in from range while baiting an easy parry.

Use Consumable Items

Any type of throwing knives or craftable bombs can be useful to get in some quick damage. Since Rileigh doesn't have a shield he's forced to either eat the damage or roll. Even if the consumable item misses, you might be able to get a nice roll catch instead if your timing and positioning is on point.

Rileigh the Idle Boss Tips

Parry Running Attacks

Any time you see Rileigh begin sprinting at you, get ready to parry. If you get consistent with the timing, this is one of the fastest ways to take him out assuming you have a decent enough weapon equipped. Just be aware that if you miss the parry, you will not only receive some damage but also some Scarlet Rot buildup as well.

Avoid Scarlet Rot Buildup

Rileigh is very aggressive and his Dagger inflicts Scarlet Rot buildup, so blocking in this fight is not really a viable option. Focus on dodging attacks to avoid getting inflicted with Scarlet Rot, but if you do get inflicted, it's recommended to get some distance and use Preserving Boluses or cast the Incantation Flame, Cleanse Me to cure the status ailment.

Punish Heals

Throughout the fight, Rileigh will heal once and attempt to heal a second time, but fail. During both of these instances be ready to punish with your move of choice.
