Another Cemetery Shade is located inside Black Knife Catacombs in Liurnia of the Lakes. The entrance of the catacombs is guarded by Lhutel, the Headless, a surprisingly tough normal enemy that can instantly kill by inflicting Death-Blight with its sword attacks.

Cemetery Shade Boss Tips |
---|
Cemetery Shades can easily close the distance on ranged builds with its Shadowstep. Plan out your attacks and movement with this in mind — shots tend to land more reliably once the Shade is done shadowstepping around the area.
Web Sling is an extremely strong attack that can result in instant death if it connects, especially against Black Knife Catacombs' Shade. A good way to manage this attack is to always have Cemetery Shade in view throughout the fight. You can easily time your dodge by observing the web being conjured above its head.
Cemetery Shade Boss Tips |
---|
Minimize Cemetery Shade's Shadowstep tendencies by always staying within melee range. This results in Cemetery Shade using the move less, and using its sword attacks more often instead.
Shadowstep Information |
---|
Cemetery Shades can fade shadowstep in any direction during the fight, this lets the Shade either reposition for quick sword attacks or dodge away to safety at a moment's notice. Stay on your toes and always have the Shade in view throughout the entire boss fight. |
Take note that any of these attacks can be changed from Cemetery Shade's Shadowstep.
Sword Attack Variations |
---|
Quick Swipes: These are quick lateral slashes done with either weapon and can be followed-up by any other sword attack. |
Two-Handed Strikes: Cemetery Shade uses both blades to either do a double forward thrust or double overhead slam towards the target. These attacks deal high damage and can be chained to one another in quick succession. |
Flurry: A barrage of sword slashes that inflict high damage and Bleed with each hit. Avoid this attack at all costs as it can instantly kill you with just a few slashes. |
Spinning Combo: Cemetery Shade does a simple lateral slash, followed by spinning slashes with both swords. Take note that the timing of the spin attacks can be staggered depending on how far you are from the boss. |
Web Sling Information |
---|
Web Sling: Cemetery Shade conjures a green web atop its head. It then slings this web towards the player, ensnaring them for a few seconds if the web hits. Cemetery Shade will follow this up with a critical attack, resulting in instant death unless you have high max HP. Dodge just before the web flies off Cemetery Shade's head to avoid this attack. |
