Recusant Henricus Boss Tips |
---|
Take Advantage of Its Long Recovery Time |
Equip a Shield as Backup |
Due to its heavy mace, Recusant Henricus takes a few moments to recover between attacks. Wait until it has just finished an attack before retaliating with Incantations or Sorcery. When you notice it kneeling, go on the offensive.
Having a shield equipped on your off-hand will be helpful whenever you try to walk or run away from its attacks. It's best to avoid Recusant Henricus's mace altogether if you can, but having a lightweight shield might save you from death. As long as you have it up, you'll lessen the chance of you getting hit while also having a better time keeping your distance.
Try not to be over-reliant with your shield, as you can have your guard broken if he chains his attacks. Try to balance out defending and dodging attacks whenever you can.
Recusant Henricus Boss Tips |

Dodge First, then Attack |
Bait It into Using Heavy Attacks |
Let Recusant Henricus attack with its mace first as it has a long recovery time in between attacks, allowing you to move in for damage. When it's kneeling to recover stamina, roll up and strike once or twice, then get back before it has time to strike again.
The easiest attack to take advantage of is its jumping mace strike. Once Recusant Henricus jumps in the air, keep medium distance, then dash back so that it lands just in front of you. If you follow this basic strategy, you'll be able to chip its health down in no time.
Recusant Henricus will go for heavy attacks if you back up far enough. It will roll into a jumping mace strike most likely, which gives you the chance to attack when it's kneeling.
A basic, slow overhand attack that is easy to avoid and leaves Recusant Henricus vulnerable. Easily avoided by dodging to the side, use this chance to put some distance between you or go in for an attack.
Just like the Overhanded variant, but a little faster. Both attacks usually follow in quick succession. The mace it wields is a heavy weapon, so most shields won't do much to protect you. You're better off avoiding it all together.
Usually preceded by a side-roll. Slow and easy to predict, but if Recusant Henricus lands a blow, it will likely deal heavy damage. Dodge to the side, then go in for a quick strike as it's recovering from the attack.
Recusant Henricus's most powerful attack, it imbues its mace with the power of magma in an instant, then brings it down with a fiery explosion. It will leave a pool of lava on the ground that will cause a lot of damage, so watch for the mace to glow red and get back.
If Recusant Henricus puts its back to you, that means it's preparing to wind up for a surprise attack. You might be tempted to go in for an attack. Instead, stay back until the spin is finished, then you can approach to deal some damage.
