Only Healing Incantations can stun the Royal Revenant repeatedly, and they deal the same damage regardless of the AoE. Healing Incantations are the way to go in order to make this fight smooth.

If you did not invest points in Faith, consider either respecing to have the minimum amount to cast Heal, which only requires 12 Faith, or have Godrick's Great Rune active.
It'll be hard to get distance from Royal Revenant due to its speed and teleporting abilities, make sure you summon a Spirit Ash so you can freely dish out ranged attacks. It deals decent damage so tanky Spirit Ashes such as Banished Knight Oleg or the Greatshield Soldier Ashes will be helpful.

| Use Barricade Shield to block Royal Revenant's attacks |
Due to its weaknesses, imbuing your weapon with Holy Grease or Fire Grease will let you deal additional damage and have an easier time fighting it.
Since you'll be blocking a lot against Royal Revenant, make sure you equip the Barricade Shield so that you don't lose too much stamina against its attack patterns. You'll have more than enough stamina to counterattack after one of its combos.

 Many-Armed Attacks: Royal Revenant swipes at you multiple times with its arms then ends the pattern with a ground slam. If you can't get any distance away from it, keep your shield up as it swipes at you until it's about to do a ground slam. You'll have time to dodge the final attack. |
 Double Lunge: Royal Revenant stands on its hind legs and charges up two lunging slam attacks. You can block these with your shield but they'll drain your stamina. You can also time your dodges to when it's about to slam the ground. Make sure you roll to the left. |
 Teleporting Swipe: Royal Revenant gets closer to you by teleporting to you then following up with a swipe. Your lock-on won't go away so just be prepared to dodge once it momentarily turns invisible. It can combo this with other attack patterns. |
