How to Get to Abyssal Woods

Enter the Hidden Coffin in Shadow Keep

Shadow Keep Hidden Coffin
1	From the Specimen Storehouse, First Floor Grace, take the lift down. Turn left and take the ladder down.
2	Break the illusory wall to the right of the painting wall by attacking or rolling on it.
3	Interact with the coffin to start a cutscene, which will then take you to the Castle Watering Hole.

To get to Abyssal Woods, you must first find the coffin in Shadow Keep that takes you to the lower region of the Scadu Altus.

Reach the End of the River

From the Castle Watering Hole, follow the river downstream by heading south.

You must jump between ledges and drop down on the gravestone embedded in the walls to reach the Darklight Catacombs.

Defeat the Darklight Catacombs Boss

Defeat the boss of Darklight Catacombs to unlock the Abandoned Graveyard Site of Grace and the Abyssal Woods area.

From here, we recommend getting the Map Fragment by heading southeast.

The Map: Abyss map fragment unlocks the whole Abyssal Woods region in your map and can be obtained in the Abandoned Church.

From the Abandoned Graveyard, follow the path south and stick to the left wall to eventually reach the Abandoned Church and the Map: Abyss map fragment.

Abyssal Woods Madness Enemy

Avoid the Aging Untouchables That Inflict Madness

The Aging Untouchables are the enemies in the Abyssal Woods that inflict Madness and can deal lethal amounts of damage when grabbed.

Messages across the Abyssal Woods warn you of getting detected, and that combat is not an option against these foes. Avoiding them is recommended.

Crouch on Tall Grass to Avoid Detection

The most effective way to tread the Abyssal Woods, where there are the madness enemies, is to crouch and sneak along the tall grass.

Use Items or Spells that Reduce Your Noise

These madness enemies can detect you both visually and through sound.

Try some options for reducing your noise by equipping the Crepus's Vial Talisman, Black Knife Armor, Assassin's Gambit Ash of War, or Soft Cottons.

This does not prevent them from seeing you in their line of sight.

Do Not Touch the Frenzied Flame Grapes

Among the tall bushes, stalks of Frenzied Flame Grapes can be found. Touching these produces a loud noise that alerts the madness enemies and thus may lead to your death.

Avoid these vegations while sneaking through the grass.

Parry and Riposte to Defeat Them

Despite the messages saying combat is not an option and these enemies are untouchable, they can be defeated with parries and critical attacks.

When detected, parry before they lift their staff to perform a successful parry. The Buckler Parry Ash of War makes it easier to parry enemies.

Forsaken Graveyard	Unlocks after defeating the Darklight Catacombs boss.
Woodland Trail	Found beside the path south of Forsaken Graveyard.
Church Ruins	Follow the path leading to the southeast section of the area.
Abyssal Woods	Found in the opening directly west of the Woodland Trail Grace.
Divided Falls	Can be found at the base of the falls when you keep heading west from the Abyssal Woods Grace.

Aged One's Exultation

The Aged One's Exultation boosts your attack power when Madness is triggered nearby, either on enemies or yourself.

To acquire this talisman, defeat the Aging Untouchable nearest to the Abandoned Church by successfully parrying their grab attack and attacking with a critical hit.

The other Aging Untouchables in the area will instead drop the crafting ingredient, Swollen Grape.

The Mad Craftsman Cookbook 2 is obtained beside a large tree in the higher areas west of the Abyssal Woods. The path that leads to this area can be found near the western edge of the map.

This cookbook enables the crafting of Hefty Frenzied Flame Pots.
