How to Beat Ghostflame Dragon

Tips for Beating Ghostflame Dragon

Use Holy Damage

Holy Damage is extremely useful against Ghostflame Dragons as they are weak to Holy Damage due to their undead nature. You can use incantations, Holy Weapons, or apply Holy Grease to your weapon to boost your damage.

Best Holy Weapons and All Holy Weapons

Ride Torrent To Escape Its Breath Attack

It's best to attack on foot and save Torrent for running away as the Ghostflame Dragon has a lot of attacks that cover a lot of range. Attacking while on foot is a lot safer as most attacks of Ghostflame Dragons do not reach under them.

Allow Other Enemies to Attack the Dragon First

Allow Other Enemies to Attack the Dragon First

For the Scadu Altus Ghostflame Dragon, avoid participating in the fight between the dragon and Messmer's soldiers. Instead, allow both parties to damage each other. This saves your healing pots, and grants you free damage on the dragon.

Immediately joining the fight can also get annoying as Messmer's soldiers can attack you instead of the dragon which leaves you in a grouped-up battle rather than a single boss fight against the Ghostflame Dragon.

Dodge the Ghostflames to Avoid Frost Buildup

Always avoid the breath attacks of Ghostflame Dragons as their pale flame causes frost buildup. If affected by Frostbite, you'll take significant damage and will receive increased damage from all attacks.

Use Thawfrost Boluses

Use Thawfrost Boluses

Thawfrost Boluses are extremely useful when fighting Ghostflame Dragons as they alleviate Frost buildup and cure Frostbite, removing any debuffs caused by frost.

How to Get Thawfrost Boluses

Focus on Targeting Its Feet

Focus Target on its Feet

Attacking the feet is the safest option for aggression against Ghostflame Dragons as most of their attacks will not reach you and their stomp attacks are easier to see. The feet are easier to reach which makes it an ideal target despite the lower damage output. However, its stomp attacks may produce ghostflames as a follow-up so be wary.

Double Roll to Dodge the Ghostflame Stomp

Ghostflame Dragons have a new stomp variation that follows up their normal stomp with a wave of Ghostflame around it. Dodge this attack by rolling away twice to avoid damage from the stomp and the Ghostflame.
