To fight the Ancestor Spirit, you must first light the eight torches in the area. Once all eight torches are lit, return to the Ancestor Spirit's location to activate the boss fight.

The Ancestor Spirit will rear up and stomp down while on the ground, and also has a similar attack from mid air. If you time your roll to avoid the damage you will have enough time to get in a few hits after these attacks.
The Ancestor Spirit is a rather large boss, and most attacks while locked on have a good chance of missing entirely. It's recommended to lock on when focusing on dodging attacks and re-centering the camera to get a better sense of the boss’ position, but lock off when you want to attack for better accuracy.
Exploit the boss’ elemental weakness by setting your weapon's affinity or buffing with Fire or Holy damage. Alternatively you could use consumable items that deal either of these damage types.
