If you haven't already, make sure to progress Thiollier's questline since it is closely tied to St. Trina's. Complete all of his interactions beforehand to ensure he appears in the right areas once you have access to the Stone Coffin Fissure.
To reach the Garden of Deep Purple, you will first need to unlock the area that houses it - the Stone Coffin Fissure. To do this, head over to the Shadow Keep in Scadu Altus until you get a message saying Somewhere, a great rune has broken.
This trigger unseals the entrance to the Stone Coffin Fissure, allowing you to explore this new area. However, do note that tends to advance certain steps of NPC questlines. Make sure you've completed the first steps of the starting NPCs before breaking the seal.
The Putrescent Knight is an enemy that you will find at the end of the Stone Coffin Fissure. You can reach this area by heading south from the Castle Front site of grace.

---|---|
1 | From the Castle Front site of grace, ride southeast until you reach a fork. This is where you turn right and through the small encampment. |
2 | Shortly after passing the guards, turn left on the fork and ignore the commotion on your right. |
3 | Follow this path until you reach the poisonous swamp area, so make sure you're on your steed before you continue. Once you see a giant flower enemy ahead, turn left. |
4 | Jump down the edge once you see a giant crab, then turn left into the cave, passing the flower enemies. Pass through this linear tunnel and you should arrive shortly at the Ellac River Cave site of grace. |
Ellac River Cave to Ellac River Downstream | |
5 | Exit the cave and immediately turn left to find a waterfall. Jump over the rocks while heading south until you reach another waterfall. |
6 | Take the left path that will shortly swerve you to the right side then keep following the path down to find the Ellac River Downstream site of grace. |
Ellac River Downstream to Cerulean Coast | |
7 | The next destination can be reached by hugging the right side of the path. Ride south and use the platforms to reach the base of the waterfall safely. |
8 | Follow the river south, ignoring the giant crab and the Furnace Golem, and turn right through the trees marked on the image above to reach Cerulean Coast. |
Cerulean Coast to the Fissure | |
9 | Continue heading south while staying on the left side this time. If this is your first time here, a Ghostflame Dragon will fly down towards you, but it can be ignored for now. |
10 | Keep following the road south, past the area with the ghost worms and pot-throwing giant, until you reach a crater at the end. You now have to make it safely to the bottom of this pit. Head to the west side of the crater to find the first platform that will take you down. Be careful not to fall into the abyss and watch out for the slime enemies on every platform as you go down. |
11 | Once you reach the site of grace at the bottom, it's only a short walk through the tunnel ahead until you reach the Fissure. |
Once you arrive at the Fissure Depths site of grace in the Stone Coffin Fissure, head southwest until you reach a ledge with a ghost beside it. Jump down into the depths (it will be a long fall) to reach the arena of the Putrescent Knight remembrance boss.
This boss locks you out of the Garden of Deep Purple where St. Trina resides. Defeat it to clear the way forward.
How to Beat the Putrescent Knight
You can also call for Thiollier's help before fighting the Putrescent Knight boss. His gold summon sign will only appear after Thiollier says he's heading south to find St. Trina.
Thiollier will tell you this after breaking Miquella's Charm, reaching the Fissure, and exhausting his dialogue at the Pillar Path Cross.
After defeating the Putrescent Knight, head inside the nearby cave (past the newly unlocked site of grace) to find both St. Trina and Thiollier. Exhaust Thiollier's dialogue to progress the quest.
Depending on your progress with Thiollier's questline, he may or may not be at the Pillar Path Cross site of grace. If you progressed Moore's quest alongside Thiollier's, he should tell you that he's heading west to find St. Trina once more.
Your next objective is to hear the voice of St. Trina. For this to happen, you'll need to interact with St. Trina and choose the option to Imbibe nectar. Upon choosing this option you will die. Respawn and do this 3 more times until you hear St. Trina's voice during the death screen.
Note: Since you'll be dying multiple times, make sure to spend your runes before undertaking this dying and reviving loop. Otherwise, you may end up losing hard-earned runes during the quest.
The simple answer is yes, you need to choose the Imbibe nectar option since it is the only way to hear the words of St. Trina. Without hearing her words, both Thioller's and St. Trina's questlines would never progress.
After hearing St. Trina speak, talk to Thiollier and pass on St. Trina's words to him. Thiollier will not trust you, prompting him to threaten you should you try to trick him into believing that St. Trina chose you and not him.
After he threatens you, drink St. Trina's Nectar by choosing the Imbibe nectar option once more. You'll hear St. Trina speak before respawning once more.
Once you revive, Thiollier will invade you just outside the Garden of Deep Purple. Defeat him here and exhaust his dialogue afterward to progress St. Trina's questline.
To console Thiollier, drink St. Trina's nectar one last time. Listen to her last line of “You must kill Miquella... Grant him forgiveness.” Once you revive, relay those words to Thiollier to unlock him as a gold summon for the final fights of the DLC.
Burn the Sealing Tree to end St. Trina's questline and progress Thiollier's questline. Keep in mind that unfinished side quests will become unavailable after burning the Sealing Tree.
Should You Burn the Sealing Tree?
St. Trina will be located inside the Garden of Deep Purple at the Stone Coffin Fissure legacy dungeon. Players will need to unlock this area first and defeat the Putrescent Knight to interact with St. Trina.
St. Trina is an independent party throughout the story of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree. Her goal is to find someone willing to kill Miquella to prevent him from rising to godhood.
Although St. Trina's goal is grim in hindsight, her real reason is to prevent Miquella from “caged divinity”, stating that godhood would be Miquella's prison.
St. Trina is the main NPC involved in Thiollier's quest. Thiollier is obsessed with St. Trina, to the point that he's willing to sacrifice everything just to see her again.
