The first step into changing your stats is to first defeat Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon. She can be found in the Academy of Raya Lucaria as the Legacy Dungeon's boss.

After defeating Rennala, you will be transported to the Academy Library. Rennala will be there as an NPC and will talk about Rebirth. Accept her offer and she is now available to respec your stats.

Obtain a Larval Tear

Before you can respec, however, you need a Larval Tear. This is a rare item that can only be found in certain places or purchased from a wandering merchant.

You can find a Larval Tear in the Village of the Albinaurics, which is south of the Academy of Raya Lucaria. The tear is in the area with the well and the graves.

Purchase From Siofra River Well Merchant

If you just want to buy a Larval Tear, you will need to head to the Siofra River Well. After getting past the enemies, go under the massive bridge to find another one with some scaffolding.

Follow the ledges and you'll find a Wandering Merchant selling a Larval Tear for 3000 Runes. Give the Tear to Rennala to be able to respec.

When You Should Respec

When You're Not Satisfied With Your Build

Respecing is useful when you find that you didn't allocate your points in the way you wanted to and are not liking the direction it's going. By respecing, you can make our build more efficient by reallocating the points to fully maximize the weapon you're going for.

When You Want to Try Something Else

You can also respec when you want to try a completely new build. For instance, you want to change your build from a purely Intelligence build to something that has a mix of Dexterity and Intelligence.

Take note that this may completely change the build and the weapons you can use!

Cannot Go Below Base Stats

While your points will be refunded, keep in mind that you cannot below your class' base stats value. This means that whatever class you chose at the beginning will still have a big influence.

When You Want to Finish Goldmask's Questline

Law of Regression

If you want to finish Goldmask's Questline and unlock one of the endings, there is a point where you will have to learn the Law of Regression incantation.

Learning it requires 37 INT and you may need to respec at least two times. One respec to dump points into INT and learn the skill, and another respec to go back to your original build.
