When to Fight Ancient Dragon Lansseax

Location Recommended Level
Altus Plateau
Lv. 100

You can fight Ancient Dragon Lansseax as soon as you get to Altus Plateu and first trigger her appearance north of the Abandoned Coffin Site of Grace.

Fight at Level 100+

Ancient Dragon Lansseax is a powerful and large boss that has wide attacks that can easily KO or bring down characters to critical HP with its lightning and fire attacks.

Level your character to at least Level 100, increasing Vigor and your chosen attacking stats enough so that you can withstand her powerful attacks and deal enough damage in turn.

How to Beat Ancient Dragon Lansseax

Tips for Beating Ancient Dragon Lansseax

Use Your Mount for Added Mobility

Elden Ring - Use your Mount for Added Mobility

Ancient Dragon Lansseax's large size means her attacks can cover a lot of ground, especially her signature Lansseax's Glaive which is great at catching evading targets.

During the fight, ride Torrent so that you can easily dash away from her fire breath and glaive attacks.

Use Spirit Ashes to Summon Spirits

Elden Ring - Use Spirit Ashes to Summon Spirits

Tanky spirit ashes are the best to use in this fight due to Lansseax's powerful moves, with the best choice being a fully upgraded Mimic Tear. Not only does this summon have high HP and durability, it will also use the same weapons as your character.

Other notable Spirit Ashes include Lhutel the Headless, Banished Knight Oleg, and Banished Knight Engvall. All three are great at tanking Lansseax's moves and their aggressiveness means they'll also grab attention, letting you deal damage to the boss or heal up safely.

Attack Lansseax's Legs

Elden Ring - Attack Lansseax

Getting under Lansseax and attacking her legs is an effective way to bring her health safely. Getting under the dragon lets you evade most of her sweeping attacks, particularly her glaive attack.

This strategy also applies to characters using spells as it's safer to cast sorceries and incantations while under her. The Meteorite and Meteorite of Astel sorceries, in particular, are very effective against her since the meteorites will cover almost her entire body.

Use Weapons with Thrust Attacks

Weapon Type Weaknesses
Thrusting Weapons

Ancient Dragon Lansseax is resistant to all types of weapon damage except for thrusting damage, which deals respectable damage against her.

Thrusting swords such as the Estoc and Cleanrot Knight Sword have fast movesets, allowing you to deal a lot of damage to the Ancient Dragon while still having enough time to dodge or ride away.

Some Weapons Have Thrusting Attacks

Elden Ring - Use Weapons with Thrust Attacks
Some weapons can deal thrusting damage while not necessarily classified as thrusting weapons. The Cross-Naginata, for example, has a lot of thrusting attacks on its regular moveset and is a great weapon to use while riding Torrent due to its range.

Additionally, weapons equiipped with the Impaling Thrust Ash of War will always deal thrust damage when using the skill.
