Summon a tanky Spirit Ash

It can be difficult for ranged users to get hits in due to how aggressive Godskin Apostle is. Using a Spirit Ash will make this fight much easier since you can just let it tank the boss while you attack from afar.

Great options would be Banished Knight Oleg and Lhutel the Headless due to their tankiness.

Freezing Mist can drain Godskin Apostle's health

Freezing Mist will be a great spell to use since it deals Frost damage, a weakness of Godskin Apostle, and has a big AoE. You'll whittle down the Godskin Apostle's health and eventually cause Frostbite. It'll be even easier to cast while your Spirit Ash distracts him.

Use quick-release spells

Godskin Apostle's speed means it'll be difficult to use charged spells or ones with long cast times in this fight. Prioritize quick-release spells that you can spam so that you don't get punished and so that you can break his poise. Glintstone Icecrag and Adula's Moonblade will be especially effective since they deal Frost damage.

Use fast weapons

Weapons with slow attack animations can leave you open to a barrage of Godskin Apostle's attacks, and it'll be difficult to set up counterattacks even after successfully avoiding a combo.

Prioritize light weapons so that you can get out of tough spots easily. Katanas will be good options since they also cause Bleed.

Jumping attacks will stagger him quickly

Use Jumping attacks after Godskin Apostle uses moves with long recovery times such as his overhead slams. These can break his poise after just a few strikes, leaving him open to a critical hit.

Exploit Godskin Apostle's weaknesses

Use weapons that correspond with Godskin Apostle's weaknesses to deal additional damage and cause Status Effect build-ups. The Bleed Status Effect in particular will build up fairly easily, taking out chunks of his health.

If you don't have the aforementioned weapons, you can also coat yours in Blood Grease or Freezing Grease as an alternative.

Melee Attacks

Melee Attack Variations
Triple Combo: Godskin Apostle does two upwards swipes, then does a jumping overhead slam. Block the first two attacks, then dodge into the overhead slam. This has a long recovery animation so you'll get a couple hits in.
Lunge Attack: Godskin Apostle stretches his body to lunge at you twice. The first lunge is a slam to the ground while the second is a swipe. You can block or dodge to the side for both.
Pierce and Pull: Godskin Apostle thrusts his blade forward then pulls it back. This deals heavy damage, the safest option for avoiding this is to roll backward.
Spinning Twinblades: Godskin Apostle rapidly spins his blade.Back away once he starts doing this since it'll drain your stamina if you try blocking. He will sometimes stretch his body forward while spinning so be prepared to dodge.

Black Flame Attacks

Black Flame Attack Variations
Slashing Black Flames: Godskin Apostle stretches his body and creates a trail of black flames. Get away from this attack's range since the trail of flames can damage you even if you dodge the initial slashes.
Black Flame Tornado: Godskin Apostle creates a tornado of flames. This has a long cast time so just get some distance once the animation for this starts.
Black Fireball: Godskin Apostle launces fireballs at you from a distance. Dodge to the side to avoid these.
Black Flame Explosion: Once you bring Godskin Apostle to around 60% health, he'll charge up an AoE explosion. You'll have ample time to back away.
