Magma Wyrm Makar is found in the Ruin-Strewn Precipice, which is located northern Liurnia. The nearest Site of Grace is the Ruin-Strewn Precipice Overlook, right outside the boss arena.

Magic is very effective against Magma Wyrm Makar

Despite its imposing size, Makar is very weak to magic, so spellcasters will be able to deal significant damage against it. Its size also makes it easy to hit, especially with large AoE spells such as Comet Azur or Meteorite.

Make sure you summon a tanky Spirit Ash to have an easier time casting your spells without getting attacked.

Attack Magma Wyrm Makar as it tries to get close to you

Ranged users should attack Makar while it tries to close distance between you. It only has one attack pattern that allows it to quickly reach you - the Fire Charge. Aside from that, it will just be crawling towards you, which makes for easy opportunities to get attacks in.

There is an indestructible pillar in the center of the boss arena that you can use to go around in circles so that you don't get caught in a corner.

Coat your weapon in Magic Grease

Due to Makar's weakness to magic, use Magic Grease on your weapon as you enter the boss arena. This allows you to bring his health down quicker due to the bonus damage you'll deal.

Attack Magma Wyrm Makar either from behind or from the side

Attacking Makar from the front will make you susceptible to getting hit by its Fire attacks. Try to reach its side and attack from there to avoid these. It'll also be easier to dodge away from its other attack patterns from there. If you're able to stagger it, attack its right eye to deal a critical hit.

Just be careful of Makar's Sweeping attack it'll spin around to hit you if you're attacking it from behind or from the side.

Magma Wyrm Makar Attack Patterns

While Magma Wyrm Makar has a second phase once you've nearly halved its health, its attacks will largely remain the same. However, instead of crawling on the ground, it will stand on its hind legs and start fighting you in that form.

Makar's attacks will also be much stronger so you'll have to be extra cautious once you reach this phase.

Fire Attacks

Fire Attack Variations
Fire Breathing: Makar will breathe fire at your direction. This should be fairly simple to telegraph since its mouth starts boiling with flames right before it does this. If it breathes in a forward direction, dodge to the side. If you're attacking it from the side, it will sometimes turn to breathe fire at you in that area. Try to reach its other side so that you can get some free hits in.
Fire Charge:If you're keeping your distance from Makar, it may start charging at you while breathing fire at the ground to quickly reach you. This has a limited distance so you can just run away to avoid this. Remain cautious since Makar can do this pattern consecutively. Don't dodge into Makar or get close to it during this move since the fire will stay on the ground for a few moments and can damage you.
Lava Spit: Makar will spit lava at you that sticks to the ground for a few moments. This looks a bit similar to its Fire Breathing animation, but it will raise its head much higher. You can dodge to the side to evade this.

Sword Attacks

Sword Attack Variations
Sword Slam: Makar will raise its sword then slam it to the ground, dealing AoE damage. This attack animation will start with Makar lifting his sword and holding it with both hands. You can dodge away from it to avoid this entirely or dodge into it right before the sword drops to get some attacks in.
Sweeping Attack: If you're attacking Makar from the side or from behind, it will sometimes do a sweeping move with both its sword and tail to try and reach you. It can be a bit hard to read this animation if you don't see its front so try to be aware of when it raises its sword above its head since this signals the move's about to occur.
Sword Swipe: Makar will pull its sword back and swipe it at your direction. It'll mostly do this when you face it from the front. You can either dodge to the side or into this attack to avoid it.
