True to his calling as a knight of assistance, the Great Horned Tragoth will first appear as a gold summon for the Magma Wyrm Makar boss battle. If players summon him here for the first time, they will be rewarded with the Casual Greeting gesture.
Note: The Casual Greeting gesture is rewarded for summoning Tragoth for the first time. This gesture can be earned here or in Caelid (when you fight Radahn).
Gold Summon in Radahn's Festival of Combat
The Great Horned Tragoth will next appear inside Redmane Castle in Caelid. You can find his white specter listening to Jerren's speech inside the castle courtyard. If players join the festival and fight Starscourge Radahn, Great Horned Tragoth will be available as a gold summon.
Warning: Completing the Volcano Manor contract before fighting Radahn will remove the Great Horned Tragoth as a gold summon for that particular boss battle. In his place will be Patches.

Invade His World to Get Great Horned Tragoth's Armor
The only way to get Tragoth's armor set is to complete Patches' Volcano Manor contract. Defeat Great Horned Tragoth to receive his Bull-Goat Armor, Bull-Goat Helm, Bull-Goat Gauntlets, and Bull-Goat Greaves.

To get this invasion, progress Patches' questline until you join the Recusants of Volcano Manor. Complete the first two Volcano Manor contracts to get Tragoth's optional contract from Patches. You can invade his world using the red invasion sign inside Magma Wyrm Makar's boss room.

Go For Backstabs on Slow Attacks
Tragoth's ground slam attack and flip attack are both very easily exploited. For the ground slam, just time your roll for when Tragoth will hit the ground and you'll get the backstab every time. For the flip attack, you don't even need to roll, just side-step to the right and backstab him. Rinse and repeat until Tragoth is defeated.
Don't Go For Wake Up Attacks
As Tragoth is recovering from a backstab, it's better to just back away rather than go for an R2 on wake up. Tragoth can recover and attack surprisingly fast with his Great Hammer, so it's best to just avoid the risk of getting hit entirely.

Punish Slow Attacks From Range
Wait for Tragoth to do the flip attack or ground slam attack and as he's recovering hit him with a ranged option. If you have access to higher-level sorceries or incantations, you can deal decent damage to Tragoth if you time the cast right. Alternatively, hitting him with an upgraded bow will still do nicely here.
Just make sure Tragoth doesn't interrupt your ranged attacks with his Crossbow.
Use Poison Arrows
Poison arrows are a good option for dealing with Tragoth's high amount of health in relative safety. The only real downsides to this strategy are that you are using a rather valuable ammo type and that it will take a while to defeat Tragoth via this method.

- The Great Horned Tragoth is a knight of assistance. He roams the Lands Between helping fellow Tarnished who are in the midst of adversity.
- If the player joins the Volcano Manor, the Great Horned Tragoth will meet his untimely demise at the Ruin-Strewn Precipice.

- The Great Horned Tragoth wields the Giant-Crusher - a colossal war hammer that is considered one of the heftiest weapons in the Lands Between. However, unlike the base weapon you find in the Altus Plateau, his version comes equipped with the Lion's Claw Ash of War.
- In his off-hand, the Great Horned Tragoth wields an Arbalest - a large crossbow that packs a serious punch. This particular weapon can be found inside Stormveil Castle.
