Beast in the Ice Tips and Strategies

Stay Behind Him

Stay Behind The Beast
Most of Beast in the Ice's physical attacks are projected forward, evading through his attacks and repositioning to his rear gives you the advantage when avoiding his hits. However, watch out for the frost projectiles he can scatter through his attacks as they can apply chill and ultimately freeze you when you have accumulated too much.

Build Up Your Cold Resistance

Diablo 4 -Cold Resistance Items

Cold Resistance potions, gear, and gems are a must, as the Beast in the Ice has a lot of cold-based attacks that when built up can ultimately freeze you and make you vulnerable. Visit the Alchemist, and the Occultist to create cold resistance potions and roll affixes.

Optimize Build and Gear

Diablo 4 - Optimize Builds
This boss is at level 85 with complicated mechanics similar to other Uber Bosses. We recommend using builds that optimize staggering bosses fast with high DPS, or high survivability builds that utilize unstoppable or other cleansing abilities and aspects to deal with the Beast in Ice's chilling attacks.

Best PvE Builds

Fight Him Solo

Fight The Beast Solo
It's best to fight the Beast in the Ice solo, as having a party member scales the strength of the Boss depending on your party size. Aside from his damage, chill accumulation and freeze time are also scaled which ultimately makes the boss fight harder.

Avoid Dying Five Times

Dying five times will trigger dungeon failure and your sigil will be consumed. After dungeon failure, you will need to craft another sigil to have another go at The Beast in the Ice.

Beast in the Ice Attack Patterns

Freezing Slam

As soon as you enter the Beast in Ice's area, frost pojectiles will drop followed by the Beast landing in the center. Avoid standing near the center as the Beast's landing can apply chill to you.

Frost Projectiles

The Beast in the Ice slashes at the player as his sword releases frost projectiles that multiply upon impact; these projectiles can apply chill and will freeze you once you have accumulated enough. Avoid this by staying at the Beast's rear and evading frost projectiles that scatter through the area.

Chilling Breath

The Beast releases chilling air from its mouth that can also multiply upon impact. Stay behind him to avoid this attack as it can freeze you if you're exposed long enough. You can also take advantage of this attack as it's a perfect DPS window in the fight.

Pushing Howl

After taking enough damage the Beast in the Ice will scream, knocking players close to him away and chilling them. Although this attack is hard to dodge, it does not deal any damage.

Cold Ground

The Beast slams its sword multiple times into the ground, chilling portions of the arena. You can easily avoid these by staying away from the area with a white circular indicator. Getting hit by this attack multiple times can freeze you or kill you if you have low health.

Blizzard

After dropping the Beast to one-third of his health, he will summon a blizzard that closes the arena. Stay away from the blizzard as it can deplete your health fast.

In addition to this move, he will also call four projectiles that can push you out of the arena and into the blizzard; avoid this by standing in the gap between the projectiles.

Mob Summon

Mob Summon
Throughout the fight, the Beast will spawn various mobs to aid him. These mobs may vary depending on his health; at low health, he can summon Cold-Enchanted elites which should be your high-priority target in this fight.

Frost Fall

At one-third of his health, the Beast in Ice will call on falling cold projectiles that can track the player's position. Avoid these by stepping away from your current position which is marked by a small white circle, and evade to move away from the following projectiles that spread in a star-like pattern; being hit by this attack applies chill and will freeze you after a few hits.
