Varshan Location and Unique Drops

How to Use the Interactive Map

The Interactive Map both shows the location of key points on the map, and doubles as a collectible checker.

1. Click an icon on the right side to show all the pins of a specific type, or click the magnifying glass button to search for a specific pin by name.
2. Click a pin on the map to see its name and description, and a relevant picture or video if available.
3. From here, click Mark as Acquired to indicate that you've gotten a collectible already. This will change its icon on the map to show that it has been collected, and add 1 to that pin type's Counter.
4. To undo this, click on the same pin and click Restore to unclaimed.
5. To check how many pins you have marked so far, check the Counter in the bottom left, and click the icon that looks like a checklist to see counters for all pin types.
6. If the collected pins start to get in the way, you can hide them all by clicking the green Show Pins button on the left side.

Icon	How to Use
	Show Names This button reveals the Name of every icon currently shown.
	Show Pins This button will toggle between showing and hiding all the pins which you have already marked as acquired.
	Fullscreen This button will change the map display to fill the screen.
	Search Mode Toggle This button will display a searchbar which you can use to search for an individual pin by its name.
	Icon Mode Toggle In Search Mode, this button will toggle you back to Icon Mode, removing the search bar and displaying the icons again.
	All Pins This button is shown along with the Icons on the right when there are over 6 types of pins. Click it for a full selection of all available pin types.
	Counter Tracks the number of pins you have of a certain type. The pin type shown is set to the page and currently cannot be changed; however, all pin type counters can be viewed by clicking the checklist icon on the right side.
	View All Counters This icon is found on the right side of the Counter. When a map has more than one pin type, click this icon to see Counters for all pin types.
	Zoom In / Zoom Out This icon is found on the top left side of the map. You can press these buttons, or use your scroll wheel while hovering, to Zoom In and Out of the interactive map.

Echo of Varshan can be found on any Torment difficulty inside the Malignant Burrow in The Writhing Mire, which is located beside the Tree of Whispers in the Hawezar region. Like all other Ladder Bosses, it is available on either the Eternal Realm or the Seasonal Realm.

To summon the Echo of Varshan, enter the dungeon and interact with the Malignant Altar to deposit your Malignant Hearts.

As of Season 6, Varshan now has a chance to drop Mythic Uniques as he is now a Tormented version by default. Additionally, defeating Varshan also has a chance to drop multiple Mythic Uniques in a single fight!

If you are interested in target farming Mythic Unique Items, repeatedly defeating any of the Ladder and Uber Bosses is an effective strategy.

Mucus-Slick Egg Reward

Echo of Varshan also drops the Mucus-Slick Egg. You can use this item to summon Duriel, the King of Maggots. In total, you need two Mucus-Slick Eggs and two Shards of Agony to summon him at the Gaping Crevasse in Kehjistan.

The person who summons the Echo of Varshan will receive the Mucus-Slick Egg drop. It is not possible for the Mucus-Slick Egg to drop for multiple players, even if you are in a party.

The Flesh-Weld Rod Trophy Cosmetic

In addition to the Unique Items and the Mucus-Slick Egg that can drop from the Echo of Varshan, you can also obtain a cosmetic trophy called the Flesh-Weld Rod by defeating him.

You can also get Malignant Rings from defeating the Echo of Varshan. These rings are based on the Malignant Powers from the Season of the Malignant, and they will be available in both the Seasonal and Eternal Realm.

You can obtain Malignant Hearts by by opening the cache reward from completing the Tree of Whispers or killing the Grotesque Debtor in activities with the Whispers of the Dead. Killing Treasure Goblins also has a chance to drop Malignant Hearts.

You Can Transmute Old Malignant Parts

The only item you need for summoning Echo of Varshan is the Malignant Heart. You can now use the old Malignant Body Parts (Trembling Hand, Gurgling Head, and Blackened Femur) that you still have at the Alchemist to transmute them into Malignant Hearts.

Optimize Build and Gear

Before taking on the new seasonal boss, it is recommended to optimize your build and gear for maximum DPS and survivability.

Varshan has devastating attacks, especially in higher World Tiers. Try to upgrade your equipment and invest in defenses before taking on Varshan.

Best Builds for PvE and PvP

Party Up with Other Players

Form a party with other players for more DPS. Not only will the encounter end much quicker, you will also have the benefit of the increased EXP.

It is recommended to fight Varshan as a party in higher difficulties as it is not uncommon to get one-shot. Other players can revive you if you are downed, and they can take some heat off you, allowing you to heal or wait for cooldowns.

Craft Elixirs of Poison Resistance

Varshan can inflict Poison, so it is recommended to craft some Elixirs of Poison Resistance so you do not find yourself chugging Healing Potions constantly. Elixirs can be crafted at the Alchemist in exchange for some materials.

Avoid Staying in Front of Varshan

Barring Varshan's Explosive Decay attack which hits in an AoE, all of Varshan's attacks hit directly in front. With this in mind, you can simply run to the side to save your evade for when you need it.

Use Crowd Control

Like all bosses, Varshan also has a Stagger Bar below its HP bar. Filling up the Stagger Bar by using crowd control Skills will open up a window for you to deal as much damage as possible.

Dispatch Summons First

At the start and during the encounter, Varshan will summon three minions. They pose a minor threat but Varshan will absorb them to gain a barrier, so you will need to eliminate the summons to damage Varshan.

Echo of Varshan Attack Patterns

Tendril Swipe

Varshan uses its tendrils to strike horizontally three times. Each strike does not deal much damage, but they add up if you get hit three times. This attack can be easily avoided by keeping your distance or getting behind Varshan. These attacks launch projectiles in a cone, extending its reach. Varshan can cancel it and use another attack. Do not get greedy with your attacks.

Tendril Stab

Similar to the previous attack, Varshan stabs directly in front using its tendrils three times. It has a longer reach but is easily avoided by stepping to the side. This attack can track players, launch projectiles, and can also be canceled into another attack. As with the previous move, do not overcommit to your attacks.

Tendril Lunge

Using its tendrils to pull itself, Varshan lunges and strikes at you. Varshan is a pretty immobile boss and uses this as a gap closer. Simply sidestep to dodge the attack. This attack deals more damage. This has a slight wind-up so you can easily sidestep it.

Explosive Decay

Varshan marks the ground and violently decays it with an explosion. This is Varshan's deadliest attack, and the AoE increases as the fight progresses. This attack explodes much quicker and has a bigger AoE. Always be ready with your evade or mobility Skills.
