Roderika Interactions

Speak to Her at the Stormhill Shack

When you first find Roderika, speak to her to know about her plight and to receive the Sitting Sideways Gesture.

Speak to her again and she will give you the Spirit Jellyfish Ashes and a quest to look for her Chrysalids in Stormveil Castle.

Defeat Margit the Fell Omen

Elden Ring - Margit the Fell Omen

In order to access Stormveil Castle, players will first need to defeat the bridge guardian named Margit the Fell Omen. This is a main story boss fight so it will be tougher than many of the dungeon bosses you first encounter in Limgrave.

How to Beat Margit the Fell Omen

Obtain the Chrysalids' Memento in the Castle

Chrysalids

In order to complete Roderika's quest, you will need to retrive the key item called the Chrysalids' Memento. It can be found on a corpse pile guarded by two rabid dogs, inside the grounds of Stormveil Castle.

Once you have the item, return and show it to Roderika in Stormhill Shack. She will comment on the Chrysalids' fate and return with you to The Roundtable Hold.

Get Her Reward at the Roundtable Hold

If players went through the trouble of getting the Chrysalid's Memento for Roderika, she will reward you with a Golden Seed once you speak to her back at the Roundtable Hold.

Skipping Stormveil Castle

If you missed Roderika in Stormhill Shack and unlock a Site of Grace in Liurnia, she will appear in The Roundtable Hold by herself. The Golden Seed obtained by completing her questline can instead be found inside Stormhill Shack where she was sitting.

She will also give you the Spirit Jellyfish Ashes once she becomes a Spirit Tuner.

Convincing Roderika to Spirit Tune

Standing by the fireplace next to the Table of Lost Grace.

Back at the Roundtable Hold, Roderika will comment on how she feels without purpose. Speak to Smithing Master Hewg about Roderika to find out she has a gift for Spirit Tuning.

Alternate between the two as a mediator and eventually Hewg will comment that he promises to speak to Roderika.

How to Unlock Roderika's Spirit Tuning

Roderika Spirit Tuning

After Hewg's promise, fast travel away from the area (any Site of Grace will do) and immediately return to get Roderika to move.

When you come back, she will be situated in front of Smithing Master Hewg with an unlocked ability to upgrade the Spirit Ashes in your possession.

Roderika Curtsy Gesture

Upgrading any one of you Spirit Ash Summons to +4 will unlock additional dialogue for Roderika. She will finally claim that she is a certified Spirit Tuner and reward players with the Curtsy gesture.

Comments on the Dung Eater

Once players reach the Altus Plateau, the Dung Eater will make his appearance at the Roundtable Hold. Speaking to Roderika prior to this will have her warn you against interacting with the Dung Eater.

Tries to Convince Hewg to Leave

Roderika - Convincing Hewg to Leave

When players reach the point of the story where the Erdtree begins to burn, Roderika will appear in front of the fireplace at the Roundtable Hold. She will ask you to help her convince Hewg to leave the burning Hold.

Speak to both Hewg and Roderika after this to resolve her worries. In the end both will stay at the Roundtable Hold in order to keep offering their spirit tuning and smithing services.

Lore and Trivia

Lore

  • Roderika was an expatriated noble, left to wander the Lands Between with her men. However, after witnessing her men get grafted in Stormveil Castle, she fled to Stormhill Shack in fear.
  • Left without a purpose and unwelcome back in her homeland, Roderika surrenders to her listless existence until the Tarnished comes along. With their help, she is able to view her men's final message. This grants her the resolve to go to the Roundtable Hold and find her own calling.
  • It in the legendary Hold that Roderika meets Smithing Master Hewg. Under the old blacksmith's tutelage, Roderika eventually becomes a master Spirit Tuner, able to commune with the different souls that have yet to return to the Erdtree.
  • When the Tarnished sets the Erdtree ablaze, Roderika opts to stay inside the crumbling Roundtable Hold. She vows to stay by Hewg's side to the very end even if his memories of her vanished along with the burning Hold.

Trivia

  • After Roderika becomes a Spirit Tuner, players can return to the Chrysalids' corpse pile in Stormveil Castle to find the Crimson Hood headgear that she previously wore.
  • The rest of Roderika's Noble's Traveling Garb set can be found at the East Windmill Pasture in the Altus Plateau. It will be the bonfire surrounded by dancing old crones.
  • It is not necessary to give the Chrysalid's Memento to Roderika as she will still transfer to the Roundtable Hold after you beat Godric or if you use a site of grace in Liurnia. However, resorting to either of these methods will prevent you from getting her Golden Seed reward.

Roderika Quotes

"Everyone's...been grafted. Everyone who came with me. They crossed the sea for me. They fought, for me. Heh...Only to have their arms taken. Their legs taken. Even their heads...taken. Taken and stuck to the spider."
"A keepsake? From my men? Oh, goodness me...I can't...They all...believed in me. They all thought I'd make something of myself. Me! Who can't do anything..."
"Good to see you again. Thank you very much! I have you to thank, don't I? For persuading Master Hewg? I can happily announce that he has taught me the noble toil of spirit tuning."
"I feel like I'm really coming to grips with spirit tuning of late. I can see how and why immortal essence exists as spirit under the Golden Order. I can understand their yearnings, what they become drawn to..."
"Master Hewg said it himself, actually, that I'm no mere prentice any longer. Once again, I'm pleased to make your acquaintance. Roderika the certified spirit tuner."
