Lore Description |

"Incantation that channels the power of the ancient dragon Fortissax. Creates two spears of red lightning and stabs them into the ground from above, one after another. On impact, each spear will burst into trails of lightning covering the area. During the War of the Ancient Dragons, these twin red lightning stakes were the hallmark of one ancient dragon who was called the mightiest boulderstone." |
Fortissax's Lightning Spear is a Remembrance incantation that levitates the caster for a short while before conjuring and plunging two red lightning spears into the ground. The spears do good damage upon hit, and the AoE lightning wave can hit enemies trying to surround the caster.

Fortissax's Lightning Spear can be obtained by defeating Lichdragon Fortissax at the end of Fia's questline at the Prince of Death's Throne. His remembrance can be exchanged to Enia, the Finger Reader at the Roundtable Hold for the spell.
Foritssax's Lightning Spear is most effective when you are about to be surrounded by enemies as the lightning strikes will hit anything within a massive AoE. Being a lightning-based incantation, its damage also gets a small boost if you cast it while standing on water.
As of Patch 1.04, Fortissax's Lightning Spear now has more poise when casting, increased casting speed, and a faster recovery animation. These buffs have finally made it viable for PvE combat since players are now less likely to get interrupted by basic attacks while casting.
Enemies hit by Fortissax's Lightning Spear at point-blank range will receive more damage than those hit by its AoE lightning wave. The closer the enemies are to the point of impact, the more damage is dealt to them.
Due to this proximity damage modifier, Fortissax's Lightning Spear is not only limited to crowd control. In fact, the increased damage upon contact can be used against recovering or stance-broken bosses in PvE.
Players can boost the damage of Fortissax's Lightning Spear by equipping the Gravel Stone Seal. Since the best Faith-scaling seal is the Erdtree Seal, wield the Gravel Stone Seal in your off-hand while casting with your primary seal to boost the damage of Fortissax's Lightning Spear significantly.
Since the seal's buff effect is passive, it is not necessary to upgrade your Gravel Stone Seal unless you will be using it as your primary casting seal.
