Banished Knight Engvall's Spirit Ashes are a reward for defeating the Grave Warden Duelist boss in Murkwater Catacombs.
How to Beat Grave Warden Duelist
If you completed the dungeon and defeated the boss before Patch 1.03, Banished Knight Engvall's Spirit Ashes will automatically appear in your inventory.
Even when unupgraded, Banished Knight Engvall is a tanky attacker that can keep the pace with faster enemies thanks to his halberd. Engvall's aggresive nature makes him a great tanking spirit as he easily keeps aggro against most bosses.
While he shares the same storm attacks as Banished Knight Oleg, Engvall is slightly more mobile as he makes use of jumping attacks that lets him quickly close the distance and evade enemy attacks.
As one of the legendary Wings of the Storm, Engvall uses a storm skill similar to the Storm Stomp Ash of War skill, which he regularly uses when using his jumping attacks.
This attack can stagger most bosses, and can even stunlock human enemies like invaders and bosses like Sir Gideon Ofnir, the All-Knowing.
Banished Knight Engvall's strongest attack his jumping attack that ends with a powerful slam with his halberd. While often used to close the distance against enemies, this storm-channeled attack can flatten most human-sized bosses including Malenia when sufficiently staggered.
This move has a noticeable wind-up so make sure to aggro the enemy when Engvall is channeling the attack so that he doesn't get interrupted.
