How to Use Cross-Naginata

Scales with Dexterity and Strength

The Cross-Naginata has a B scaling in Dexterity and D scaling in Strength at +25 with the Standard affinity. This weapon is a solid choice for Dexterity builds looking for a weapon with a passive Bleed effect and good reach.

The Prosthesis-Wearer Heirloom talisman will raise your Dexterity and increase the damage of your attacks. You can also add or improve the default scaling of the weapon by applying different affinities with whetblades.

Whetblades Locations

Has a Passive Blood Loss Buildup

The Cross-Naginata has a passive Bleed buildup effect built in, even before changing the weapon's affinity. The bleed buildup rate can be improved by applying the Blood affinity with a Black Whetblade. On top of that, the Lord of Blood's Exultation talisman and the White Mask headwear will increase the damage of your attacks when Bleed is applied in the vicinity.

Alternatively, you could opt to go for inflicting multiple status effects at once. If you want to have Bleed buildup along with posion or frostbite, Ashes of War such as Chilling Mist, or Poisonous Mist are recommended with the Cold or Poison affinity, respectively.

Infusable with Ashes of War

Since the Cross-Naginata upgrades via normal smithing stones, you can swap out its Ash of War at the Blacksmith or at sites of grace. By default it is equipped with Impaling Thrust which performs a lunging thrust attack which can pierce through shields. This move has great reach and is a good way of pressuring opponents with Greatshields.
