The Ulcerated Tree Spirit is an optional boss found in Fringefolk Heroe's Grave which you can enter through the fog gate right after the tutorial dungeon by using 2x Stonesword Keys.
The boss at the end is capable of several lightning attacks and attacks with a wide range all while dealing insane damage with each hit. It is unadvisable to fight this boss during the early game as the reward will also be unusable.
How to Beat Ulcerated Tree Spirit
Banished Knight Oleg is an aggressive figther that can take hits even when unupgraded. Although he moves slow, he can quickly close the distance by channeling the power of the storm and striking the foe with his dual greatswords.
Due to his aggressive and sweeping attacks, Banished Knight Oleg makes a great tank. He can consistently hold the boss' aggro, letting you safely attack at a distance while they are distracted by Oleg's attacks.
As one of the Wings of the Storm alongside Banished Knight Engvall, Oleg utilizes a storm skill similar to the Storm Stomp Ash of War skill, which he will use regularly when close to an enemy.
This skill reliably staggers most bosses, especially human enemies like invaders and certain bosses like Sir Gideon Ofnir, the All-Knowing and Malenia.
When summoning Oleg, make sure you keep him between you and the boss so that he's forced to use his Storm Stomp skill.
Banished Knight Oleg struggles against faster bosses or in large boss areas that give the enemy enough room to evade his sweeping attacks and will force him to run towards the enemy slowly. These bosses include Flying Dragon Agheel, Magma Wyrm Makar, and Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon.
It's still possible to use Oleg against these bosses, but you will need to lure them close to the knight so that you can take full advantage of his aggressive attacks and tanking abilities.
