A Feather on the Scale is a priority quest in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred (D4) that unlocks the mercenary Subo when completed. See how to unlock the A Feather on the Scale quest, a list of quest objectives, rewards, and a complete walkthrough.

Interact with the Muddy Letter on the far right of Raheir at The Den in Nahantu to start the quest. A small note will appear once clicked, and the quest will be added to your journal afterwards.

 After receiving the quest, proceed to the Toxic Fens and find Subo. Subo is found on the top right corner of the quest area. Speak to him and enter the Smuggler's Bunker. |

 Head inside the Smuggler's Bunker and get ready for an ambush. When all the bandits are defeated, speak to Subo and head to the Windswept Altar. |
| 3 |
 Fight your way through the enemies as you head deeper inside the Windswept Altar. A cutscene will trigger at the end of the dungeon and you'll have to take down Avashtha, the Malformed Serpent. |

 After defeating the boss Avashtha, leave the dungeon using the action wheel and speak to Subo just outside the Windswept Altar. This concludes the priority quest and you can now hire Subo as a mercenary. |
Completing A Feather on the Scale unlocks Subo, allowing you to recruit him as a mercenary. Subo is able to fire off ranged attacks and provide utility in combat.
