The Crater of Lost Souls priority quest is unlocked by completing the entire story campaign of the Vessel of Hatred expansion.
Speak to Priestess Cualli just southwest of the World Tier Statue in Upper Kurast, Nahantu.

 Follow the quest marker and look for the abandoned camp in the northeast side of the area. Investigate the supplies and unfinished meal. |

 Head west and talk to the dying warrior by the side of the road. |
| 3 |
 Fight your way up to Raider's Breach until you find the entrance to the Ancient Nexus. |
| 4 |
 Head inside the Ancient Nexus and speak to Zyanya. |

 Defeat all the waves of enemies inside and activate the waypoint to conquer the Ancient Nexus to unlock the Dark Citadel. |
Completing the Crater of Souls priority quest unlocks The Dark Citadel, an endgame activity for 2 to 4 players with extremely valuable rewards.
