As you traverse Route 217, stick to the west area until you come across a house. Go inside and talk to the hiker. He'll tell you that he dropped a valuable TM outside his house. Head outside again and get Rock Climb between the house and the nearby tree.
After getting Rock Climb, head inside the hiker's house and talk to him again. This time, he will give you an Icicle Plate - an item that boosts ice-type moves and changes Arceus to an ice-type Pokemon.
Steps to proceed through Route 217 | |
---|---|
1 | Travel north, until you reach a small house with yellow roof on the west. |
2 | Enter the house, and talk to the hiker. Then, go behind his house to get Rock Climb (HM08). |
3 | Talk to the hiker again, and you'll receive an Icicle Plate. |
4 | Travel northwest, and enter the small path at the end. |
5 | Keep travelling north, and you will eventually reach Acuity Lakefront. |

The Ice Rock is located In the northwestern grass patch of the main area. If you level up Eevee beside this rock, it will evolve into its Ice-type evolution Glaceon.
Just like in Route 216, it's always hailing in Route 217. Be wary of the damage it's going to do to your Pokemon in battle.
It would be great if you have moves or Pokemon that can change the weather. Alternatively, you can get an ice type Pokemon since they are not affected by hail.
