Cresselia is obtainable after getting the National Pokedex and can be found in Fullmoon Island. Cresselia will be roaming around the Sinnoh region, and you must complete a short quest involving Sailor Eldritch and his son in Canalave City in order for it to start flying around.
Steps to Encounter Cresselia | |
---|---|
1 | Travel to Canalave City and go to the house near the pier. |
2 | Speak to the child and his mother. Go out and speak to Sailor Eldritch. |
3 | Travel to Fullmoon Island to get the Lunar Wing. Speak to Cresselia and it will fly away, leaving the Lunar Wing. |
The Marking Map app on the Poketch will show you which area Cresselia roamed to. This makes it easier to track it down even if it runs away from battle.

Cresselia can be tricky to catch due to its nature of being a roaming legendary. When tracking down Cresselia with the Marking Map App, we recommend having a bulky Pokemon in the lead who can keep Cresselia in battle through the use of the move Block.

Block Hypnosis |
When facing Cresselia, we recommend using either Snorlax with Block and Yawn or Bronzong with Block and Hypnosis. These Pokemon give you a reliable way to prevent Cresselia from escaping, and access to a status-inflicting move to improve catch rates.
Using Block prevents Cresselia's escape as long as the user doesn't faint or switch out. Take note that you can use Block before Cresselia flees even if your Pokemon is slower.
Bronzong is the most accessible and best choice here thanks to its 4x resistance to Cresselia's Psycho Cut and 2x resistance to Slash. It also has access to Hypnosis which will let you put Cresselia to sleep for a better chance of catching it. Just be careful not to knock it out!
The Ultra Ball is a reliable go-to ball to use. If you are battling Cresselia at night, the Dusk Ball becomes the better choice.
If about a dozen turns have passed, you may also rely on the Timer Ball for higher success rates of capture.
As a last resort, you may also opt to use the Master Ball for a guaranteed catch without worrying about the hassle of locking Cresselia down.
Cresselia is obtainable in Pokemon Legends: Arceus during the course of its story.
If you are missing a legendary Pokemon, especially those that are time-limited, we suggest transferring the Pokemon from Legends: Arceus via Pokemon HOME!

List of Recommended Natures | |
---|---|
Bold Defense ↑ Attack ↓ |
Calm Special Defense ↑ Attack ↓ |
Cresselia is traditionally a bulky Pokemon. It's recommended to favor abilities that increase either Physical Defense or Special Defense at the cost of Attack. With how difficult it is to lock down Cresellia's capture though, it might be better to change its nature with a Mint instead of soft resetting to catch the nature you want.
