If you didn't catch a Magikarp in the previous routes, now's a good time to catch a Buizel for your team's Water-type Pokemon if you didn't pick Piplup.
Buizel is a relatively fast Pokemon and will evolve into the faster Floatzel at Lv. 26. Adding a Water-type Pokemon is very useful for Gym Leader Byron, whose last two Pokemon are weak to Water-type moves.
After getting the 5th badge and gaining use of Surf, you can travel northwest along the river to reach Fuego Ironworks.
