List of Contents
Game Feature | Est. Play Time to Beat |
---|---|
Main Story | 30 ~ 40 Hours |
Super Contest Shows | Additional 5 hours |

Battle Tower | 100+ Hours |
100% Completion | 100+ Hours |
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will take players roughly 30 to 40 hours of play time if they decided to focus on the main story. Your play time depends on how long it will take you to get all the gym badges, take down Team Galactic, and become the Champion.
One often overlooked feature of Pokemon games are the contests. If you want to show the entire region how awesome your Pokemon is, it will take you a little more than 40 hours to finish the main story and get all the ribbons in the Super Contest Show.
Super Contest Show New Features and How to Win
Staying true to its catchphrase, catching them all may take you 70 to 80 hours. This includes exploring every route to catch every Pokemon and going to Ramanas Park after finishing the main story to catch all Legendary Pokemon available.
You are also going to need to trade Pokemon with a friend to get the ones that are version exclusives.
How to Unlock the National Dex
You can reduce the time spent completing your Pokedex if you have access to Pokemon HOME. It is highly possible for players to import Pokemon from their previous games provided that they are in Pokemon BDSP's national dex.
Pokemon HOME Support and Compatibility
Since Online Ranked Battles won't be returning to Pokemon BDSP, you can test your Pokemon battling prowess by going to the Battle Tower.
Coming up with a good team and battling each trainer in every room could take more than 100 hours. This includes completing the main story too!
If you are a completionist and want to 100% the game, it might take you more than 100 hours to do so.
This includes finishing the Main Story, getting all the Ribbons from the Contest, completing your Pokedex, conquering all floors in the Battle Tower, getting all the Statues for your Secret Base, fighting every trainer in the game, and getting all available items.
It might seem tedious but remember that there isn't one rule that fits all when it comes to completing the game. You can set up your own rules of what constitues a 100% complete Pokemon game.
