List of Contents
Dig for treasure by tapping the sledgehammer (red) or pickax (blue) to uncover the selected area. You can switch between the two tools by pressing R. The sledgehammer removes large sections of rock, but makes the wall collapse faster. The pickax chips away only small pieces, but contributes very little to wall collapse.
When the digging minigame starts, use the sledgehammer to find the general area of where the treasure is. Once you've found it, you can use the pickax to precisely dig it up.
At the start of the minigame, you'll be told how many treasure items can be found in that spot. Find all the items before the wall collapses. The wall collapses when the crack at the top of the screen reaches the left side. If the wall collapses before you uncover all items, you'll only obtain the items you've fully uncovered.
Use the blue pickax to scout for treasure pieces across the tiles. Take care not to dig in parts that have already been dug out!
The blue pickax digs up a plus shape, with minimal disturbance to the mine. This allows you to easily create peepholes as to where treasure may be.
When the minigame begins, you'll be informed of the total number of items in the wall. Keeping that total in mind, try to reveal at least part of each of the items first before unburying one completely. This will allow you to choose the rarest item to dig up first, avoiding the risk of missing out on a rare item that you didn't get the chance to identify.
Knowing what shapes the treasures appear in will give you a better idea of where they might be hidden in the mine. Statue Boxes are easy to remember as 3x3 squares.
Below are some of the highly sought-after treasures and what shapes they can be found in.

In the Underground, look at the minimap for twinkling, yellow spots (♦). Head to the location with those spots, then press the R Button to ping the yellow spot's exact location.
The pinged yellow spots may appear on the wall or floor. Stand in front of and face a yellow spot on the wall, then press A to start digging for treasure. Yellow spots on the ground will either be traps or buried spheres, which you won't need to dig for.
Dig into yellow spots that are beside each other in walls in order to collaborate on an excavation. Players digging into a wall will have a blue pickax symbol above their head.
Connection via local network or online is automatically activated once you enter the Grand Underground. There, you'll be able to see other players who are in the Grand Underground at the same time as you.
