It's no longer possible to play Capture the Flag in the Grand Underground as it was removed from the game. In the original games, you had to enter another player's Secret Base and retrieve their flag.
Conversly, you had to set up traps to prevent other players from getting your own flag!
Player PCs in Secret Bases were removed from the remakes so it's no longer possible to capture flags from other players. You can still visit other players Secret Bases to view their statues.
The Underground Man mission that revolves around capturing flag was changed to simply visiting another player's Secret Base.
Sphere Traders in the Grand Underground no longer sell traps, but their inventory was expanded to add pedestals to display statues.
In the original, the reward for capturing as much flags as possible was Secret Base expansion. These services are still available though and are now offered by Sphere Traders in the Grand Underground.
In the original games, Capture the Flag required players to visit another player's Secret Base and interact with their PCs to retrieve their flags.
Once you retrieved the flag, you had to evade the owner of the flag and head back to your own Secret Base to register your captured flag!
Other players could also enter your Secret Base and capture your flag. You had to set up traps to stall and immobilize to deter potential readers from stealing your flag!
