Use Repels and Pokemon Abilities to avoid random battles with wild Pokemon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl (BDSP) for the Nintendo Switch. Read on to learn about how to get Repels and what Abilities help prevent wild encounters!

You can purchase Repels from the Poke Mart or obtain it as a collectible on certain Routes.

 Cleanse Tag
|
An item to be held by a Pokemon. It helps keep wild Pokemon away if the holder is the head of the party. |
You can obtain the Cleanse Tag from the old woman on the right of the 5th Floor of the Lost Tower on Route 209. Additionally, there's about a 5% chance a wild Chingling or Chimecho will be holding a Cleanse Tag.
| Abilities that Avoid Wild Encounters |

Intimidate, Keen Eye, Stench, Snow Cloak, and Sand Veil are Pokemon Abilities that lower the chance of encountering wild Pokemon by half. The Pokemon with this ability needs to be equipped as the first Pokemon in your party.
For Intimidate and Keen Eye, the Pokemon is more likely to avoid wild Pokemon that is of a lower level than it. Snow Cloak only applies during a hail storm and Sand Veil only applies during a sand storm.
