Traps were items in the original games that were removed from Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl (BDSP). Learn how these items used to function in the original games.
List of Contents
It's no longer possible to place traps in the Grand Underground as it was removed from the game, along with the Capture the Flag minigame.
In the original games, traps allowed you to stall or immobilize players attempting to steal your flag from your Secret Base!

Sphere Traders no longer stock traps in their inventory. These NPCs now sell pedestals that you can use to decorate your statues, along with TMs, spheres, and treasures.
In the original games, traps were one-time use items that you could bury within your Secret Base and the tunnles in the Underground.
There were many traps available and were primarily used to deter other players from stealing your flag. These traps could be purchased anywhere from Sphere Traders.
It was possible to combine traps in the original games to magnify their trapping effect and further deter players from capturing your flag.
A popular combination were Alert and Crater Traps, with the Alert Trap distracting the player who would eventually fall into the Crater Trap.
