Surf to Canalave City

You can access Route 218 and fish with the Old Rod as early as during your first visit to Jubilife City. Much later in the game, you can Surf across the water to Canalave City in order to get the 6th badge.

Get the Old Rod

You can get the Old Rod by talking to the Fisherman at the west gate of Jubilife City, leading into Route 218. Jubilife City is accessible even before your first Gym Battle!

How to Get All Fishing Rods

Get Stickers

Spark Stickers B Route 218.png

Talk to the girl with a Wingull standing on the dock. Afterwards, surf west until you reach land. Then talk to the boy in a green picnicker outfit to receive 3 Flora Stickers F. Surf east and talk to the girl with a Wingull again to receive 3 Spark Stickers B.

Route 218 Objectives

Steps to proceed through Route 218
1 After earning the Hearthome Gym Badge interact with the lake to start surfing.
You won't be able to pass through without Surf.
2 Travel west and pass through the gate to reach Canalave City.
You'll run into Prof. Rowan's assistant inside the gate and he/she will upgrade your Pokedex.

Catch a Magikarp with the Old Rod

Now that you have the Old Rod, you can catch a Magikarp via fishing. Leveling up your Magikarp to level 20 will make it into a Gyarados - a strong Pokemon that will prove to be very useful in your journey to becoming the champion!

Catch Rare Pokemon From the Honey Tree

Route 218 is the home of one of the Honey Trees found in the Sinnoh Region. You can slather Honey on the tree to attract rare Pokemon which includes Munchlax and a female Combee.

Catch a Ditto Using a Poke Radar
