Chimchar Location

Choose as Starter Pokemon at Lake Verity

Chimchar is one of the three Starter Pokemon you can choose from when beginning your adventure at Lake Verity. Selecting a Starter Pokemon is a one-time, unrepeatable event, so choosing either Turtwig or Piplup will prevent you from obtaining Chimchar as its original trainer in your save file.

How to Get a Shiny Chimchar

Chimchar, as well as the other starters, are not shiny locked so make sure to save before entering Lake Verity.

You can keep soft resetting until you get a shiny Chimchar. It may take you several tries though so be patient.

Just encountered a Chimchar in a volcanic cave hideout! I have the shiny Chimchar statue up, can't verify if that's required or not. Happy hunting!
