Getting close to Diglett or Dugtrio that appear in the Grand Underground's passageways will cause them run away and leave behind a pink sparkle that you can collect.
This fills up a gauge on the upper left corner of the screen below the map. Sparkles dropped by Diglett will add 1/40 to the gauge, while Dugtrio adds 3/40.
Once you collect 40 pink sparkles, a message will appear on the top right of the screen saying that Something good may happen in the Grand Underground!
This gives a pretty high chance to dig up a Gorgeous Stone Box that contains a Shiny Statue!
This dig chance bonus lasts for around 4 minutes before it expires. During this time, you can get up to 6 Gorgeous Stone Boxes if you act quickly. Once the timer starts, quickly run around to find the closest digging spots and refresh them when they run out by entering and exiting Hideaways.
While Diglett and Dugtrio seem to appear rarely in the Grand Underground, you can still farm them efficiently whether you're playing solo or with a group online!

The best way to farm Digletts in the Grand Underground when playing solo is by sticking to the corner aisles and t-junctions of the passageways, and then entering and existing a Pokemon Hideaway to force them to respawn.
Diglett and Dugtrio will always spawn in corner ailses and t-junctions, so stick to these areas as soon as you enter the Grand Underground.
If you can't find anymore Diglett spawning in the tunnels, head inside a Pokemon Hideaway to reset their spawn rate.

You now have a choice how you want to connect to the Grand Underground. Feel free to choose any option, or use the Link Code if you want to invite your friends.
All sparkles collected by players in the same session will contribute to your gauge. This means even if you're not actively looking for Diglett, your gauge will still fill up if other players are collecting sparkles!
This is great if you want to do several things in the Grand Underground, such as digging for treasure or looking for rare Pokemon in the hideaways!

Corner Aisles | T-Junctions |
Digletts will always spawn in corner areas and t-junctions in the Grand Underground, so focus on going through these areas to farm them efficiently.
There is a upper limit to the amount of Diglett that appear in tunnels with larger areas spawning more Diglett.
Avoid passageways with long tunnels and instead focus on sections of the Grand Underground that have a lot of corners and intersections as these will spawn proportionally more Diglett!
1. Find Diglett | 2. Enter Pokemon Hideaway |
---|---|
Entering and exiting a Pokemon Hideaway will respawn Diglett and also reset the amount of Digletts that will appear in that section of the Grand Underground.
Diglett's spawn points are fixed once you enter the Grand Underground, so running back and forth over the same tunnels is an inefficient way to go about farming once reach the spawn limit.
Take note of tunnels where you encounter lots of Digletts and enter and exit a hideaway to force them to respawn in the same place!
Dugtrio spawns are random and it's not possible to force respawn them using the hideaway method. Their initial spawn rates are also low, so count yourself lucky if you see one!
