Release Pokemon by accessing the Storage System in the Pokemon Center in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl (BDSP) for the Nintendo Switch. Read on to learn how to release your Pokemon and the reason for releasing Pokemon!
List of Contents
To release your Pokemon, go to your Boxes via the Pokemon Menu by pressing R or head to a nearby Pokemon Center and go to the computer to the right of the counter on the 1st floor. Access your Pokemon Boxes, then select the Pokemon you wish to release.
Select the Pokemon and press A to bring up their menu. Select the Release option. The game will ask you if you are sure that you want to release the Pokemon. Select Yes if you agree, then the game will release your Pokemon back into the wild.
Take note that this is permanent and there is no way of getting the Pokemon back unless you've saved beforehand, which would allow for a soft reset.
You can release Pokemon if you've simply captured too many Pokemon to fit into your boxes. In the PC System, you can store up to 1,200 Pokemon, which means you can store more than 2 copies of every single Pokemon on the Pokedex.
