The Move Relearner (Move Reminder) is located in Pastoria City and he will make your Pokemon relearn moves in exchange for a Heart Scale. Read on to learn about the Move Relearner's restrictions and when to relearn moves in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl (BDSP).

How to Relearn Moves

Move Relearner in Pastoria City

Move Tutor House
The Move Relearner is located in Pastoria City, in the house northeast of the Poke Mart, beside the man standing next to the waterfront. He will make your Pokemon relearn any move it learns via Level Up from its previous levels (all moves from Level 1 to its current level), and any Egg Moves it was born with but was later forgotten.

Move Relearner Restrictions

Move Tutor
The following are the restrictions of the Move Relearner in the games:

  • Can't make Pokemon relearn the moves of its pre-evolutions (each Pokemon has their own learnset.)
  • Can't make Pokemon relearn TMs
  • Can't make Pokemon learn Egg Moves they were not born with.

How to Forget HMs

Heart Scale is Needed

In order to acquire the Move Relearner's services, you need to pay over one Heart Scale for each move you will have a Pokemon relearn.

You can get Heart Scales repeatedly via mining in the Underground or as a held item on a Luvdisc (found by fishing with a Super Rod at the Pokemon League). You can also get one Heart Scale on Route 212, in the empty patch of grass to the left of Psychic Mitchell.

After 10 Heart Scales You Can Remember Moves For Free

After giving the Move Reminder 10 Heart Scales, he will reward your loyalty by offering to help your Pokemon remember moves for free!

When to Relearn Moves

Relearn Level 1 Moves

Some final evolutions have powerful moves that they learn at Level 1 that you wouldn't be able to get unless you use the Move Relearner (or breeding). Some examples include Torterra with Wood Hammer, Garchomp with Fire Fang, Gyarados with Thrash, and Crobat with Cross Poison.

If You Accidentally Forget a Move

You can relearn any Level Up moves you've removed from your Pokemon, as well as one of the Egg Moves they already had.
