Lake Valor Map Differences

When you visit the lake for the first time, it will be dried up due to Team Galactic bombing it right after you beat Byron in Canalave City. Here, there are Team Galactic Grunt battles, unobtainable flopping Magikarp, and 1 one-time available HP Up.

Lake Valor will be filled up again after beating Team Galactic and dealing with either Dialga or Palkia at the Spear Pillar. This will also grant you access to the cavern in the middle of the lake where Azelf is located.

Lake Valor Objectives

Steps to proceed through Lake Valor
1 Go to the center of the empty lake.
You'll encounter Galactic Grunt battles.
2 Go inside the Valor Cavern, and talk to Commander Saturn. This will trigger a battle.
3 Travel to Lake Verity.
Fly to Twinleaf Town. Go northwest of Route 201 to reach the entrance to the lake. After defeating Commander Mars at Lake Verity, the next location will be Lake Acuity. Pass through Route 211.

Lake Valor Tips & Strategies

Catch Azelf in the Cavern

Visiting the lake after getting the 8th badge will let you surf on the lake and reach the cavern where Azelf is. Interact with it to start a battle and try catching it to complete your Sinnoh Dex!

Obtain HP Up When Lake is Dried Up

After the Galactic Bomb is set off, Lake Valor will have all of its water drained. The vitamin HP Up can be obtained on the deepest accessible part of the area, near the Magikarp and a Team Galactic grunt.
