You'll encounter relatively strong trainers along the way as you head to Jubilife City. Leveling your Pokemon to at least Lv. 10 is a good strategy so you can defeat them easily.
The Professor's assistant will teach you how to capture wild Pokemon. It is always recommended to capture Pokemon when they are at low health, as this increases the chance of successfuly catching it.
It's also a good idea to stock up on some Potions as you might encoutner particularly strong trainers in the next areas. Buy at least 5 Potions at Sandgem Town Poke Mart before traveling to Jubilife City.
Shinx is the earliest Electric-type Pokemon you can catch in the game. While it won't have much use in the first three gyms, it's still worth to train as it makes the Water-type Gym in Pastoria City easy - especially if you chose Chimchar or Piplup as your starter.
Kricketot, a Bug-type Pokemon, can only be encountered in Route 202 early in the morning or late at night. If you are aiming to complete the Pokedex or planning to add a Bug-type Pokemon in your team early in the game, check this Route at these times of the day!
