From April 1, 2022 to May 1, 2022, you can obtain a Member Card to catch Darkrai at Newmoon Island by receiving the item in the Mystery Gift menu.

Get Shiny Statues of Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup to decorate your Secret Base in the Grand Underground!
You can now obtain the Oak's Letter Key Item and catch Shaymin at Flower Paradise in Route 224 by receiving the item in the Mystery Gift menu.
This distribution will last until March 27, 2022.

You can unlock the ability to receive Mystery Gifts at the TV station in Jubilife City, which can only be entered after getting the 1st badge and defeating the Galactic Grunts in a Double Battle north of the city.
On the 3rd floor of Jubilife TV, talk to the TV producer and answer his question regarding TV with “EVERYONE HAPPY WI-FI CONNECTION” to unlock the Mystery Gift feature. Selecting any of the other random options will give you stickers, so you can do that first before giving the correct answer.
After answering correctly, Mystery Gifts will be available in the start menu by pressing X.
Alternatively, you will unlock the Mystery Gifts option in the Menu automatically after defeating Maylene and getting the 3rd badge, regardless if you did the method listed above or not.
Getting the 3rd Badge: Walkthrough Part 3
When you select the Mystery Gift option from the menu, you will have 2 choices of how to receive a Mystery Gift: Get via Internet and Get with Code/Password.
Mystery Gifts can be items or special Pokemon that are free to receive and download for a limited period. Once the period of the event is over, you will be unable to receive these items or Pokemon, unless a player who participated in the event is willing to trade them to you.
You can view the Mystery Gifts you've obtained by selecting Check Mystery Gifts.
You can only receive a Mystery Gift once per save data. If you have 1 copy of Brilliant Diamond and 1 copy of Shining Pearl, you can receive the same Mystery Gift once on each game.
The gifts below are not Mystery Gifts, so they do not require the Mystery Gift function.

Speak to the gentleman in the flower field on the southwest end of Floaroma Town and he'll give you Jirachi if you have a save data for either Pokemon Sword or Pokemon Shield.
Speak to the madame in the flower field on the southwest end of Floaroma Town and she'll give you Mew if you have a save data for either Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu! or Pokemon: Let's Go, Eevee!.

Purchasing a digital copy of either game between November 19th, 2021 and February 21st, 2022 will also give you a code to obtain 12 free Quick Balls in game. The code can be redeemed up until February 28th, 2022, at 4:59PM PT.
Purchasing the double pack of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will give you 2 codes that each redeem 200 Poke Balls when used.

Players were able to the Pokemon Platinum Outfits as equipable styles for Lucas and Dawn in the Diamond and Pearl Remakes. You could redeem the Mystery Gift code then put on the Platinum Outfits at the Metronome Style Shop in Veilstone City.
