Open Beta and Early Access Release Date

Lasts from March 24-26

Beta Dates Early Access
The official start date for Diablo 4's Open Beta is March 24, 2023. This will last all weekend, finishing on March 26, 2023 and be available to everyone.

Beta Early Access from March 17-19

Diablo 4 - Pre-purchase available

Players who pre-order any edition of the game can gain early access to the beta from March 17 to March 19, 2023. Game progress from the early access period will carry over to the Open Beta, so players hoping to get all the rewards during the Beta are encouraged to pre-order the game!

Pre Order Guide

Game Progress Doesn't Carry Over to Full Game

While game progress does carry over from the early access period to the Open Beta, the same is not true for the full release of the game. In other words, any character or story progress made in either beta release does not carry over to the full game. This is to prevent players from getting an unfair advantage by making sure everyone starts Diablo IV at the same level.

Rewards earned from the beta, on the other hand, do carry over and will be availble in the full game.

How to Sign Up For Diablo 4 Open Beta

No Sign-up Neccessary

Players who are hoping to access the Open Beta period of Diablo IV only need to download the client on their platform of choice - no sign-up and no purchase necessary!

What is Included in the Beta?

Early Access and Open Beta Includes:
Prologue and Act I
First Zone: Fractured Peaks
3 Playable Classes
World Boss Ashava
Couch Co-Op and 4-Player Co-Op

Play the Prologue and Act I

Experience the story by playing through the prologue and Act I of Diablo IV, which will take you through the first zone, Fractured Peaks. During the early game, you'll select and customize your character, get an introduction to the story via cutscenes, and learn the gameplay basics.

Explore the First Zone

Fractured Peaks
Fractured Peaks is the first zone in Diablo IV, and you'll have a chance to explore its rugged terrain during the Beta. Inspired by the real Carpathian Mountains, you can expect to be tormented not only by monsters in this zone but also the frigid, unrelenting cold and flurries of snow.

3 Playable Classes in Early Access Beta

During the Early Access Beta, there will only be three playable classes: the Barbarian, Sorcerer, and Rogue. Up to 10 characters can be made per Battle.net account, so it's recommended that you create several characters to try out each class once your first character reaches level 25 (the max level during the Beta release).

Note that any characters created during either Beta will be deleted when the Beta ends, so don't get too attached to one loadout!

Druid and Necromancer Also Playable in Open Beta

In addition to the classes available in the Early Access Beta, the Open Beta will allow players the chance to play as the Druid and Necromancer classes.

Battle the World Boss Ashava

world boss Ashava
Ashava, the world boss for the Fractured Peaks zone, will appear 4 times on each Saturday during the Beta periods. This boss was first shown off during Blizzcon 2019, where players could take on this dragon-like, acid-spitting demon.

You'll want to be sure to reach max level (25, during the Beta) and team up with other players before going up against Ashava, as world bosses are tough. Ashava herself will be level 25, and up to 12 players will be able to work together to bring this demon down.

Ashava Open Beta Spawn Times

Play Couch Co-Op and 4-Player Co-Op

Both couch co-op (2-player) and 4-player co-op will be available during the Beta periods. During the Early Access period, players looking to play side-by-side couch co-op will only be required to have one account with access to the Beta, while the other player simply needs to connect their battle.net account to their console-specific account.

Beta Rewards

beta rewards
There are three rewards that players can earn by reaching certain milestones during the Diablo IV beta. These rewards will be available at launch for the full game and can be used in the full release of Diablo IV. The rewards are the same for both beta releases so players who miss the rewards during the Early Access Beta will still be able to get them in the Open Beta. The rewards are as follows:

Reward How to Unlock
Initial Casualty Title Reach Kyovashad
Early Voyager Title Reach Level 20
Wolf Pack Cosmetic Item Reach Level 20
