Multiplayer features are available in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, which is playable by up to 2 players but not in couch co-op. Read on to learn about all the online and local wireless features, such as trading and Pokemon HOME, and if Nintendo Switch Online is required!
List of Contents
On the Nintendo eShop page for Pokemon Legends: Arceus, the game is listed as playable by up to 2 players online and on local wireless, but this only applies to trading Pokemon between two players.
There is also no option to battle other players in the game. Most of the battles you will encounter will be against wild Pokemon, Frenzied Noble Pokemon, and a handful of story characters that you will meet.
Can You Battle with Other Players?
The Nintendo Eshop page also lists the game as only playable by one player if not connected to any online or local networks. This means that several players cannot play the game on a single Nintendo Switch console at once, and you will need a second system to play with others.
Using a second system to play with other players also means that you would need a second copy of the game and another Nintendo Switch Online membership if you will be playing online.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus Online Features |
---|
You will be able to trade with other players by visting the Trading Post in Jubilife Village. Here, you can trade locally or online.
The Trading Post is where you can also exchange Merit Points for items, with majority of the available items for purchase being evolution items needed by certain Pokemon to evolve.
Lost Satchels are items lost by players due to taking damage from wild Pokemon and being knocked out in the wild. These lost items can be returned to the player if someone else manages to find their Lost Satchel in the field. Retrieving Lost Satchels rewards the player with Merit Points, which can be used to purchase items in the Trading Post.
Similarly, you can also lose items if you get knocked out, and the items will be returned to you if another player finds your Satchel.
Lost & Found Guide: Lost Satchel Effects
Pokemon Legends: Arceus has a Mystery Gift feature that allows you to collect free limited-time items. Receiving these items does not require you to have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
How to Get Mystery Gifts and List of Codes
Pokemon Legends: Arceus will receive support from Pokemon HOME in 2022, which could mean transferring Pokemon between games, including recently released Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will be possible, as they will also receive HOME support in 2022.
Pokemon HOME Compatibility and Release Date
With the exception of Mystery Gifts, a Nintendo Switch Online Subscription is required to access the game's online features such as trading between players at the Trading Post and transferring Pokemon via Pokemon HOME.
